4.5 Stars Very interesting plot! Really enjoyed it!

This book captured me. Hook, line, and sinker. I couldn't put it down, and when I did, it was all I was thinking about. Trisha Wolfe did an excellent job when writing this book. Sam Wintry had the perfect life planned out. She started to date her childhood friend in high school, went on to attend college together, got engaged, and was planning the honeymoon of their dreams with him. Tyler Marks was always a part of her life, past, present, and future. So when a hit-and-run accident takes Tyler away from him, her life essentially stops. "But the cruel irony is that he was my strength. My focal point in the chaos. The world is spinning off its axis, and I don't know how to do any of this without him." She starts mourning him and her loss, but then she begins to see his spirt and for months after his death, she continues their relationship up. No one believes she is seeing him and her mom begins to take her to a psychologist for help. "But there's so much wrong lately it's hard to choose from, so maybe I don't have to lie at all." Sam then realizes that Tyler left with only one regret: not being able to complete the cross-county road trip with her. So she takes the road trip and scatters Tyler's ashes at some of their important stops. This is the only way she believes he can move on and rest in peace. Holden Marks happens to be in town checking on Tyler's hit-and-run case. He checks up on her and Sam asks for his help. She needs his help getting Tyler's ashes, so he strikes up a bargain. He will only help her get the ashes, if he can go on the trip with her. "'I'm all for women's lib and all that shit, but I don't care. The world is still fucking dangerous. You're young and beautiful... and there's just too many bad things that could happen." With their history, she's hesitant to let him join but she needs the ashes, so she agrees. While on the road, Sam learns about many secrets that not only Tyler was hiding from her, but also Holden. She fights her own beliefs and feelings through the trip and goes through self-discovery and recovery. This book is a beautiful story about Sam and her journey through recovery. She discovers things about her self and begins to imagine a future for herself she had never seen before. Trisha did a wonderful job when writing about Sam and everything she went through and how she got over it. She gave the book a real feeling for the suffering and recovery that Sam went through. I definitely recommend, you will be up all night reading it. *A copy of The Darkest Part was generously provided by the author, through The Books Machine, in exchange for an honest review*
