My first time reading Twilight as a long time fan of the movies and even I am surprised to say… I think I preferred the book! 

As much as I love the movie, there is few points where I feel the progression of Bella and Edward’s relationship is a bit disjointed HOWEVER in the book, it feels so much more natural?!? Of course, a part of the plot is that immense attraction they have for each other immediately, but I was so glad to be able to see them actually talk and get to know each other, and ask questions about each other lives and families? It flowed so much better in book format, I felt.

Now secondly, let’s talk about how both Edward and Bella’s personalities are so much better in the book? Edward can be funny, sarcastic, and witty, something I felt was not brought across on the big screen. Bella, similarly, was frequently joking with Edward, and she actually communicated well with him. To me, they 

 came across as a REAL couple through those small more simple moments. 

One thing I would criticise is that I think James and Victoria’s storyline should have been more integrated from earlier on in the book. It felt a bit like it was dropped in for a twist out of nowhere once we had established Bella and Edward’s story. I felt the two stories could have been happening more concurrently. 

Lastly, I loved hearing a deeper explanation for Edward’s actions. In particular, hearing him explain to her about the first day meeting her, why he had to leave after, why he stopped the van etc. Even going into detail about Alice and Jasper’s backstory - It just really developed the characters for me. 

Overall, I actually loved this book. Both Edward and Bella had a great development through their stories and I found them both even more endearing in book format. I felt their motivations were much more clear to me during the book and I loved their relationship! Yes. Loved.

Having enjoyed the movie, I decided to dive into the entire Twilight Saga - and I’m so glad I did. The book is far better than the movie, offering a deeper, more intense look at the characters and their emotions. The writing pulls you into Bella and Edward’s world in a way the screen simply couldn’t capture. It’s addictive, mysterious, and undeniably captivating.

jsem neskutečně překvapená tím, jak moc se mi to actually líbilo. bála jsem se, že u toho budu trpět, nebudu chtít vůbec číst a strávím u toho minimálně tři měsíce, ale světě div se, je to první kniha tohoto roku, kterou jsem přečetla ani ne za sedm dní. bavila mě. velká písmena, čtivost, akce... tohle všechno byly veliký výhody za který jsem moc ráda. ani mi to nepřišlo tak strašně trapný jako ten film. musím vážně uznat, že Stmívání je jedna z nejlépe napsaných YA romantik co jsem zatím četla. i když měla Bella občas přeslazený řeči ohledně Edwarda, jako např. jeho andělský hlas a tvář, dokonalá pleť atd., pořád jsem to nějakým záhadným způsobem zvládala číst lépe než jiné zamilované příběhy.

I enjoyed this book as I'd recently re-watched the film, and I like to have the visualisation when reading a book that's been made into a film. As usual there is far more detail in the book, which I enjoyed, the book itself is not particularly well written in my opinion, but still readable if you enjoyed the films. I will read the remaining books in due course - I don't think I could cope with them one after the other!

The five star is literally for pure nostalgia and idc what anyone says  (this is a reread)
