Until the Sun Falls from the Sky
Reviews

Until The Sun Falls From The Sky is the first book of the first PNR series that this author has written and I have to say....this author needs to write more into this genre. She has done plenty of contemporary, dark, erotic and fantasy but I found such joy in this story and most especially in the world building that this author creates and I was all for it. I just loved the grit and edges to it that was simply stunning in every way. I really only had reservations surrounding the heroine (which can happen in some of her books--her heroines don't always work out for me) But I found that I absolutely got a kick out of this story and the theme of the trilogy. Until The Sun Fall From The Sky is a story where there are vampires and they make contracts with human families to feed from, and one of the most powerful of the vampires, makes a contract with Leah who is a member of a very prestigious family who have served as blood concubines for vampires. And now its Leah's turn but Leah doesn't embrace the role like her family has, she is more resistant about it. But Lucien has wanted Leah for over twenty years and is willing to wait for her, and he does see so much more in her than she does even in herself. Leah doesn't really understand this world (and it doesn't help that she lacked in her studies) so there is plenty of confusion and there is more depths occurring in her relationship with Lucien than she realizes. I really loved this vampire world that this author creates, it was so interesting and different especially in that vampire/human mating is forbidden and the punishment is horrifying. And I loved seeing these two interact with each other, especially once the heroine got over being petty (and that is not an understatement) and even though the hero is uber alpha male, I found sympathy for what the heroine does put him through and I wasn't fully won over by the heroine to be honest. At forty years old, she is passing notes in class, she just has a very immature personality that I couldn't really like even when she realizes how horrible she has treated Lucien, she still does stupid things that doesn't make me fall for her and she didn't grow on me until toward the end which is the primary reason why this rating of this book isn't higher. If the heroine had been more likable, it definitely would have been higher. Overall I found this story to be a stunning beginning and I can't wait to delve into this powerful world that this author has created.

DNF at 8%. 40yo behaving like a naive, stupid, annoying little girl. No thanks 2 stars because the style was good and I liked the plot. If I was only judging the main character it would have been a 0 stars

Originally posted at Booklovers For Life AUDIOBOOK REVIEW I am always so easily charmed by Kristen Ashley’s audiobooks, especially ones of books that I’ve already read, because she always finds the best narrators for her incredible stories. Abby Craden is a new-t0-me narrator but her narration for the heroine of Until the Sun Falls from the Sky is so on point. She was so enjoyable to listen to! If you love listening to the audio versions of books you loved, like I do, Until the Sun Falls from the Sky is one that I highly recommend. The narrator does the story complete justice. And if you’ve never experienced the fascinating paranormal world of The Three series, you definitely need to use your credit on this one! Leah Buchanan comes from a long line of highly-esteemed vampire concubines, people who serve vampires for a period of time by providing them with blood and receive lavish compensation in return. Vampire sugar daddies, anyone? Despite how OTT this kind of thing is, I still found myself fascinated by this paranormal world and the characters, both vampire and human. At Leah’s first Selection, where vampires get to choose their concubine, she is chosen by the one and only Lucien, the most powerful of all vampires. But Leah isn’t happy about being chosen by the most highly-respected vampire of all-time – she wants nothing to do with vampires, and she won’t give in to capitulation to Lucien so easily, no matter how alluring and addicting he is. Leah is strong, independent, and courageous – I loved how she was never afraid to stand up to Lucien, even though he could rip her in two without a thought. Lucien is… a giant jerk. At least in the beginning. He’ll stop at nothing to have Leah, completely submitted to him, and he’ll seduce her to get her to yield. He’s a little overbearing and very much a dominant alpha-male – but once you start to understand his feelings for Leah, things don’t seem as bad. He’s been waiting twenty years to have her, so his possessiveness and over-protectiveness is a little warranted. And once they’ve fully fallen for each other, your heart will definitely want to melt – these two are utterly perfect for each other! Besides Leah and Lucien’s fascinating, addicting romance, there’s also a larger story that connects them to the future couples of The Three series. So if you’re going to get this first book, just be prepared to want to get the rest. And like I said before, Abby Craden does a wonderful job of bringing this book to life. Her dialogue of Lucien did get a little monotonous, but it was easily forgivable when everything else was narrated perfectly. I’m excited to listen to more of her in the final book of the series, because I seriously loved this audiobook!
