I loved the narrative arc of this and how bittersweet the ending was. 

Something about the pacing was a little off, I didn’t feel like I got to fully connect to the characters.

The light novel didn't hit me much as the movie does, where I'd bawled and it had left me in a strucken; blank state of mind. The movie had left me with enormous hole in my heart. "He told me I should always smile, even when life was painful or hard- even when I didn't want to. If I could do that, I could get through just about anything." The fact that she has to bear losing her family at such young age, seeing her husband being thrown like a trash, can't hold a proper funeral for him, being eyed suspiciously by neighbours in the city, forced out due to lack of money, clean an unusable, broken state of a house by her ownself, planting vegetables by herself even when she doesn't know any basic of it, is poignantly everlasting. It’s also fascinating; and pretty queer to see the (un)usual tropes of parenting — the difficulty of letting go, the worry about whether your children will find their place in the world — transferred to a situation where your child’s wolf nature is part of the discussion. In this upbeat era, this practices have been largely abandoned. Hana manifested forbearance under every provocations and strains; by smiling. "phony smile" as Grandpa called it. and this feature of hers is the one we hardly ever can practice in the real life, for we are accustomed to control emotions, and be controlled by it

My review:



This Gem is all I needed it to be. I am not one that used to read comics, graphic novels or Manga.

1- it always confused me on how to read it. But I took the plunge and went on YouTube to learn how to.



This one was always ending up on Goodreads when I was looking for books to read and it kept grabbing my attention. Now that I finally read it. I'm immersed in the world of manga, graphic novels I appreciate it a lot more. From each little images it's a real art. And yes its read a lot faster, but this story here was amazing.

Now for the story and plot. The story was really great, you get invested in Ame & Yuki’s life. Plus they are totally adorable. And the mom. Poor her for all she goes through.

And the plot is just perfect at the end it's all I wanted in this kind of story. I find it's boring when it's always a happy ending then you can expect it and I don’t enjoy it as much.

But this one was a great plot, plus you get to understand and know more what the characters think.

All in all I give this one a 5 Stars 

And plus there is a film that was made in 2012, and when I watched it at the end I cried like a total baby … oops.

Hana, a university student, meets and falls in love with a young man in her class who happens to be a part wolf. She accepts him and they get married. They are blessed with two children who are also part wolf, Ame and Yuki. But a tragic incident leaves Hana raising their children alone. With the pressure of being a single mother and the danger of living in the city, Hana decides to move to the countryside where they can have a fresh start.

I watched the animated movie few years ago and I really loved it. I even cried. It was also my second time reading the manga edition and it still made my eyes teary. It’s a beautiful story about family, sacrifices, and acceptance. Its not only about Ame and Yuki, but also about Hana. Hana is not prepared to be a single mother at a young age but she does everything for her children without any complaints. She loves her family so much and will do everything for them. Ame and Yuki are different from each other but they both love their mother. It was also great to see how these characters grow throughout the story. I wished it was a little longer though. Overall, I still can see myself rereading (or rewatching the movie) this in the future.

This was really saaaaaddd!!!! Oh my goooosh!!!!

This was a completely new experience for me and I don't really know how to feel about it. I am just getting to manga now, so I don't really understand a lot of things or even what to look for but this was such an amazing book. 

I really loved the simplicity of the drawing, and how the shading was used when showing sad and happy scenes. I really just loved how the simplicity is what made it so powerful. The story line was so beautiful, and it really is the best one-sitting read I have had in a while. 

The only major complain I have, and why it is four stars, and not 5, is that the pacing was really fast. I believe this is based off a movie and it looks like it adapted the pacing of a movie. So it compressed a lot of things and I just wish we had more time and more exploration of the themes that were presented. But in the same time, it didn't completely hinder my enjoyment of the story (as you can see).
