Despite my love for Leigh Bardugo, I really wasn’t expecting that I would enjoy this as much as I did. Wonder Woman: Warbringer ended up to be such a surprising read for me. It’s silly of me to have ever doubted Leigh Bardugo on this, and looking back now I don’t even remember anymore why I thought I wouldn’t like it. Although I will say that it had such a slow beginning (and sometimes a little confusing— but I do think this is because I haven’t read the comics or finished the movie), but all of the factors that makes me love Bardugo’s books are still there! Outstanding characterization, thrilling plot, fantastic writing, action-packed scenes, even hilarious scenes that literally made me lmao. But not only that— we also get a diverse set of characters! 

(view spoiler)[ Anyway, that fucking plot twist though???? Who knew that was going to happen??? Because I certainly did not! I’ve seen this love-interest-is-actually-the-traitor trope a bunch of times in books but I always fail to see the signs!!! It’s aggravating!!!! Although I’m pretty sure it was also because Leigh Bardugo hid that twist really well because she is, duh, THE Leigh Bardugo and she knows exactly how to fuck with us.  (hide spoiler)]

I had so much more hope for this. I love Leigh Bardugo. I love Wonder Woman, but something about this book fell a little flat for me. I didn’t really connect with the characters. The pacing felt off. I struggled getting through this one. At times, I felt I forced myself to keep reading. The ending was fast paced, but I’ll admit, I didn’t really love the turn off a character and the reasoning behind the characters turn felt trifle. I almost feel a bit generous with the 3 star rating, but like I said I love Leigh & I love Diana!

As always, Leigh Bardugo never fails to amaze. This book checked all the boxes for a spectacular story. Each character was so rounded out, it felt like they had come to life beside me. Diana was so well written. She was so strong and brave — choosing her own fate and changing the future. ❤️

Prima di tutto, io ADORO Wonder Woman. è la mia eroina preferita e sono super felice di aver letto la sua origin story.
Questa è la prima volta che leggo un libro di Leigh Bardugo e non sarà l'ultimo, visto che ho adorato la scrittura.

Passando al libro, WOW.

Diana
è uno dei miei personaggi preferiti di sempre. è super forte, ha dei poteri fenomenali, ma ha anche una bontà d'animo e un rigore morale molto forte. Il suo essere molto naive nel mondo degli umani rende i suoi commenti molto intelligenti e divertenti. Il suo essere diversa diventa poi un modo per lei di avvicinarsi agli altri personaggi e avere con loro interazioni molto genuine.
Il suo sacrificio per riportare in vita Nim e Theo e salvare Alia è stato incredibile. Era pronta a perdere tutto pur di salvare i suoi amici ed evitare la guerra.

Alia
La sua voce all'inizio non piaceva molto. Mi sembrava inutile, e avrei preferito il POV fosse solo di Diana. Con il passare dei capitoli però, mi ci sono affezionata e ho adorato come fosse coraggiosa e determinata.

Ugh. Non mi è mai piaciuto, quello che diceva era per la maggior parte fastidioso (e quel discorso sui vaccini totalmente anti-scientifico), e il suo atteggiamento da "io ti proteggo e ti ordino cosa fare perché SOLO IO so cosa è meglio per te" nei confronti di Alia era UGHHHH. Non mi aspettavo però che fosse così fuori di testa. Sapevo che il colpevole era qualcuno vicino ad Alia, ma non immaginavo fosse lui.

Nim e Theo
Side characters molto piacevoli, simpatici e interessanti. Ho adorato le loro interazioni.

La diversità dei personaggi è strabiliante. L'unica possibilmente bianca è Diana, gli altri sono tutti di colore, quindi yee per questo. Inoltre Nim è bisex.

Le scene di azione sono state troppo poche per quello che mi aspettavo e che avrei voluto, ma sono state bellissime, mi sembrava di vederle come in un film.
L'inizio del libro è stato un po' lento, ma poi il ritmo è aumentato. Ogni tanto ho fatto fatica a riprendere la lettura dopo un'interruzione, ma non perché il libro fosse noioso. Il mio "problema" era che avevo paura che succedesse qualcosa di brutto e quindi stavo in ansia ahaha. Ma una volta lette un paio di pagine era difficile smettere.

Vorrei davvero che questo fosse il primo di una lunga serie su Wonder Woman, vorrei avere più sue avventure in cui immergermi. Lo raccomando davvero

Wonder Woman is one of my favorite female superheroes so I have quite knowledge about her. I was told that the story in this book is different from the movie so I didn't exactly know what to expect about the story. Also, I still haven't watched the movie yet. This was my first Leigh Bardugo read and despite of hearing nothing but great things about her works, I tried not to expect too much.

I love the diverse cast of characters. They're all unique, amazing and hilarious. I love their crazy conversation and banter. They made me forget that danger is coming their way. This is actually the squad I need. I also admire their loyalty and friendship. There's a hint of romance between the characters and it was okay. I actually liked it.

This was my first time experiencing Leigh Bardugo's writing and it was so good. It's beautiful and easy to read. I liked that the story is told from Diana's and Alia's perspectives. The addition of Greek mythology is also a plus! I also liked that this book has Diana's back story which is really helpful especially for those who have little (or no) knowledge about her. One of my favorite scenes was when Diana and Alia arrived in New York. It was fun seeing Diana's reactions to everything. I also loved the portrayal of feminism in this book. And I would love to know more about Diana's other sisters because I think they're all wonderful especially her best friend.

Is it weird that at first I thought Diana is the Warbringer? By the way, this is not a spoiler. I didn't read the synopsis so it was a shocking moment for me. I was more shocked about this that the actual twist at the end. Haha. For me, the plot was a little predictable. Also, it wasn't action-packed enough for me. Nonetheless, the story is absolutely gripping and that ending is bitterweet.

Wonder Woman: Warbringer is an exciting, entertaining and very inspiring read so I highly recommend it.

This book was a prime 3 stars for me. Lots of good stuff, I really liked the characters and the premise was great (of course), but I think I just struggle with YA. It hit so many of the tropes that drive me crazy reading YA. 
For example, everything seemed too convenient. Alia's friends just happen to know a bunch of random stuff that came in super handy in the end. 
I did appreciate the variet of rep included in this book though. Again, it seemed to tick all the boxes but I think that's a good thing for this kind of story. 
All this said, I get why this book is the way it is. It's a DC story converted to a YA novel, it's meant to accessible for people that might not normally read. I'm so happy to see Wonder Woman's story include so many positive aspects and love the thought of young girls reading this and seeing someone like them in it.

Alia Keralis is descended from Warbringers and has just a few days to find the spring which will stop the cycle of all Warbringers. When Alia's boat explodes, she end up on Themyscira where Diana and her Amazonian sisters live. Diana breaks the laws of her mother and her island to go into the world of man to help Alia on her quest. Along the way, Diana meets Alia's brother and her two friends who are destined to work with Diana to save Alia.

As with many other Wonder Woman stories, this one is based in Greek mythology. Magic, powers, and fate play a role in this adventure. The colors used in the illustrations are mostly blues and grays, emphasizing the dark mood of the book. None of the characters are very well developed, but the fears of some of the characters are explored in this story about the value of war to some and the damages it causes to all. Overall, a good Wonder Woman story.

I have a confession to make — Wonder Woman is a character that I don’t care much about. Hear me out, I love who she is & what she does; I love the Amazons & the concept of an island where only women live. I love everything about Wonder Woman.

However, I don’t think I’ve found the right Wonder Woman series to consume. What it boils down to is the writer & who’s bringing her story to life. Therefore, I never found a true reason to consider myself a fan of the character.

Which brings me to Wonder Woman: Warbringer. I have yet to read the actual novel that this graphic novel is based on (but! it’s on my soon-to-read TBR!), but I have to say that I truly did enjoy this tale. Perhaps it’s because it’s directed towards YA? & we all know I’m a sucker for YA reads.

One of the things I loved about Wonder Woman: Warbringer is the friendships that are formed. Our Warbringer, Alia, gets shipwrecked on Themyscira & is rescued by Diana. This introduces us to a whole lot of fighting enemies & GIRL POWER.

Alia is really the show-stealer in Wonder Woman: Warbringer, along with her best friend, Nim. I absolutely adored these two & even more so how they basically welcomed Diana with open arms. Honestly, by the end of it, I just wanted Diana to stay in New York & hang out with her new pals. Can I get a roommate AU or??????

Characters and relationships are absolutely phenomenal in Wonder Woman: Warbringer.

As this is a graphic novel, there’s more to the story than just the words. Kit Seaton brings Diana and the gang alive with her artwork. A blue color scheme continues throughout the pages, which somehow just felt right. Everything just paired so extremely well together.

In all, Wonder Woman: Warbringer is a pretty solid read, especially for fans of Wonder Woman. For fans of YA, I think this graphic novel is a perfect way to introduce yourself to the character and universe.

This ebook was cheap on amazon and since I love anything Wonder Woman I decided to give this a shit even though I am not a big young adult books fan.

I very much enjoyed this book. It is well written and actually could imagine Wonder Woman. 
I read this book pretty quickly because I just couldn't put it down.

Well its safe to say I loved this as much as I loved the book. 

I enjoyed the art and I felt like the pace of the graphic novel was well done and 
matched the pace of the book almost exactly. 

The graphic novel of Wonder Woman : Warbringer goes along perfectly with 
the graphic novel for Batman : Nightwaker and I look forward to owning them together.

I have to admit it took me a while to get into it mainly because I had to adjust my mindset away from the movie and tv show but once that happened I started to really enjoy it. Overall story was good, characters were fun and some good twists. a solid 4 stars.
