Safe Motherhood

Each year approximately 200,000 million women become pregnant in developing countries, and more than 500,000 will die of pregnancy related causes. These midwifery modules have been developed in response to the need for education materials to facilitate the teaching of midwifery skills required to respond to the major causes of maternal death. They are intended primarily for in-service training programmes for midwives and nurse mid-wives, but can also be used in basic and post basic midwifery programmes.
