When Mary Quinn is ordered to work undercover after a petty thief steals from Buckingham Palace, she receives attention from a prince, wonders at a murder suspect's shared name with her father, and struggles with her feelings for James Easton.

This is probably the least interesting mystery of the series for me. The whole assignment and James's very convenient involvement is just kind of meh for me. But I continue to love Mary as a character and I'm still super drawn in by her attempts to reconcile her evasion of her Chinese family for the last twenty years with the reappearance of that family now and how she wants to present herself in the future. There are definitely still a lot of questions about her father's disappearance to be answered in the next book, because this one only answered a very few for us while introducing more.
