I was lucky, my parents managed to find a Muslim name they liked that was easy for white people to pronounce. They shouldn't have had to. They shouldn't have had to worry that white people wouldn't respect me enough to take the time to learn my name. I was never bullied for my name, but my math teacher in 7th grade pronounced it incorrectly the entire year.
