A new52 story I genuinely enjoyed?!?! It's no Year One, but it was quite entertaining and not rage-inducing!

Some people usually don't like it when authors reimagine a story of a well known hero. For me I really enjoy it if it is done right. Even though with volume 4 I was still not convinced. This book surely made me change my mind. The entire book felt like this huge epic. It felt as if it was a huge blockbuster movie. So much was happening and it was all done well. Also this was the first time seeing riddler actually being a good villain which i liked alot. I also enjoyed the way Jim Gordon and Batmans relationship blossomed. It was different from what I'm used to but it was still good, and stayed true to the essence of batman. Scott snyder keeps on proving that he is still getting better and better.

This series just gets better and better!

I don't want this series to ever end.

Hm. It was ok. Not spectacular, though it's been a while since I read New 52 Bats.

Right, I'm confused. If this is zero year, both in Riddler's sense and it the sense that this was the start of Bruce's career as Batman, how was it only "6 years ago"? When did he adopt Dick? Jason? Tim? When did Bruce hook up with Talia? If Death of the Family happened 6 years in the future from this, I take it in New 52, he didn't adopt Dick as a 10 year old...or at all? I'm just really confused how the timing is working in Snyder's world.

So they decided to redo Batman's origin once again. While Year One will forever hold the place of best in my opinion, this is very well done, no doubt about it. I especially enjoyed the little singles of him learning a particular lesson, or proving the point that he's sticking to his ways. It was really nice, and it'll make all the rest of the stories flow together better than they have previously.
