A Polish-born sociologist considered by many to be the most brilliant and original social thinkers of our time, explores the consquences of contemporary "liquid life"--a fluid, rapidly changing life during which the most overpowering worries are the fears of being caught napping, failing to catch up with fast moving events, overlooking the "use by" dates, being saddled with worthless possessions, missing the moment calling for a change of tack, and being left behind.
