I was recommended RWBY by my brother-from-another-mother a very long time ago, but I never managed to pick it up. When I saw a version of it on NetGalley, I jumped up so excitedly and hit that request button so many times. I was so pumped to be able to grab a series that my brother absolutely adored (and still talks about frequently).

This book is FUN. It follows 4 awesome people (and some wickedly cool chicks) who fight bad guys as Huntresses and basically save the world. It's a great female led heist that will have you addicted and on for the ride.

The story itself is super fun and the art style works really well with it. I definitely can see why so many people are fans of RWBY. I really enjoyed it! I would love to see the anime adaptation because this seems like the type of book that would do really well for a film version.

This is my second attempt at reading manga. Round 2 was easier, but I still have to train my brain to read backwards. The artwork could be better. The images are often difficult to make out. Color would help, but even then the panels and word bubbles are often jumbled and disorienting.

The story itself feels true to modern Japanese culture. Unlikely heroes banding together, someone who’s more special than they realize is the star, the MC is pure and driven by morals. The school setting is always a big selling point for me.

The first volume has hooked me just enough to peruse the second one, but I’m not sure I’ll follow through with the series. It’s not bad, it’s just unimpressive. I’m also a novice and shouldn’t judge so harshly.

This was a fun read! I've watched the series RWBY and enjoyed it so this experience was no different. The art is stylized so that could be a make it or break it for some intense manga fans but I think it's fairly accessible! The story is going to be more for teens, probably in the 13-17 age range. Story deals with the themes of found family, friendship, overcoming hardship, and adventure. It's not a super deep and moving piece but it's fun, imaginative, and very female power oriented!

Our teen room in the library will be stocking this series!
