En esta novela nos encontramos con la historia de Camille y Jake.
Camille es la hija de un hombre rico inglés. Ha recibido últimamente amenazas hacia su hija y es por eso que decide contratar a Jake para ser el guardaespaldas de Camille. 
Camille es una chica independiente, que quiere llevar a cabo su negocio de moda junto a su mejor amiga Heather y que no está muy contenta teniendo a Jake de guardaespaldas.
Jake tiene un pasado difícil. Sirvió en el ejército durante unos años y ahora tiene un nuevo trabajo, ser el guardaespaldas de una chica rica.
Al principio, ambos no están muy contentos con la compañía del otro pero, poco a poco, tras pasar tiempo juntos y empezar a conocerse, Camille y Jake comenzarán a enamorarse y a crearse sentimientos entre ellos.

Me ha gustado mucho que la trama no solo se centre en la relación de amor entre Camille y Jake. También hay una gran trama en la novela sobre las amenazas hacia Camille y cómo va avanzando la investigación y todo lo que va ocurriendo. Esto me ha gustado mucho porque le ha dado a la novela un interés muy guay que a mí me ha enganchado.
Por otro lado, al principio, la historia entre Camille y Jake, se me ha hecho algo pesada. Hay mucho tira y afloja entre ambos y, en su justa medida, me gusta y no me importa leerlo pero en este caso a mí personalmente se me ha hecho pesado y sentía que no avanzaba. 
En general, se me ha hecho la historia pesada hasta más de la mitad del libro, porque aunque hay trama de amor entre ambos personajes y la historia de las amenazas a Camille, no avanzan mucho en el tema, siento que no hay mucha emoción y muchas páginas de relleno. Eso sí, desde un poco más de la mitad del libro hasta el final, la novela es estupenda pues se resuelve todo y hay mucha más emoción.

"El guardaespaldas" es una novela entretenida, te mantiene enganchada a la historia pues quieres saber cómo se soluciona todo. Con una historia de amor intensa, llena de emoción y con unos personajes fuertes, llenos de valor y con una ideas férreas y que te conquistan desde el minuto uno.

Jodi Ellen Malpas has done it again. She's made me fall in love! I did not want to put this book down!! I knew as soon as I started reading it that I was going to love it.

Jake and Camille are lovable characters. They both have their own personality and they're both strong-willed people. I just adore Camille. She works hard for herself even though she has a dad who would give her the world if she asked for it.

Unless that world consisted of Jake. Even though he hired Jake to protect Camille from possible threats, he didn't want her near him. He definitely didn't want them to end up together.

The only thing that was aggravating was it took so long to get the action parts! But that's completely okay. The super adorable parts make up for it in the end :)

I don't think there will ever be a book by Jodi that I won't like!!

wanted to read this after I saw the Passionflix movie and bloody hell it was a brilliant story! absolutely loved Jake & Cami & I'm still stunned how true the movie was to the book except for a few changes :)
the story was sad, full of doubts and emotions and love, enjoyed this very much :)

Believe it or not, The Protector was my first ever Jodi Ellen Malpas book! After I found myself totally wrapped up in the world, characters, story and the writing, I have no choice but to wonder why I've waited this long to read one of her books. I'll definitely be perusing her backlist for more titles to love, so you should let me know if you have any recommendations. But I digress.

The Protector was definitely a "read in one sitting" type of book. I was totally intrigued by the gruff and grumpy Jake from the very start. I was a little worried that Cami would be too much of an insipid socialite for my liking, but I'm pleased to say that she was pretty much the furthest thing from that. I loved the idea of the woman and her bodyguard falling for each other, but at the same time, I hoped she wouldn't be some total damsel in distress who can't do anything for herself. That's not Cami at all. She was spunky, feisty and totally capable. Jake was the perfect alpha – even with the secrets he was keeping. These two had wickedly hot chemistry and the sexual tension scorched my iPad. When it all gave way to sexy times? Dang. So hot. 

I'm a total sucker for forbidden romance, so The Protector ticked that box right away. I loved how these two pretty much lived to push each other's buttons in the beginning. They gave good banter. This thing between them was totally unplanned and, in some cases, rather unwelcome, but that didn't make it any less real. I liked how they took on the unknown together. I was kept on the edge of my seat a couple times as I tried to work out what was really going on that caused Cami to need a bodyguard in the first place. There was enough suspense to keep it interesting and that, combined with the romance and the bit of angst, made me pretty much refuse to put this book down until I finished.
