I’m planning on reading the acotar series soon but I’m pretty sure there are other books that have the same characters in them so should I read those first or read acotar first? Hopefully this makes sense lol

No! Read acotar first and there’s a spin-off with another character acotar is it’s own series! It’s so good to your gonna love it!

Here’s what I recommend. Read throne of glass up to Empire of storms and tower of Dawn. Then switch to Acotar, and read that up to the 3 book (acowar). After that, finish Kingdom of Ash (DO NOT read this book until you have finished acotar! It’s important). Once you’re done with those, you can either finish Acotar or start on Crescent City. No matter what, don’t start CC first. There will be references in Crescent City that you won’t get unless you’ve read the other two first. Hope this helps!

@emiri_g thanks!

@emiri_g is TOG connected? I haven’t read it, so I don’t know. Do you recommend?

@takachyna Yes, ToG is absolutely connected. It was the first series to establish the Multiverse of Maas. And it explains a lot about how things are connected. And frankly, I love it better than acotar. Highly recommend!

@emiri_g so should I read TOG then ACOTAR then CC?

Oh okay I started throne of glass and then dnfed it because I couldn’t get into it but I might pick it up! I haven’t heard a lot about it so I didn’t even know it had anything to do with acotar, but acotar is a favorite so maybe it would be a good read to suit me@emiri_g

@keeley_loves_reading It’s up to you, but I personally would recommend reading ToG first. However there is gonna be a big reference to acotar in the last book, so that’s why I recommended pausing ToG before the last book and reading acotar in between. But I get that can be confusing for some people lol :) so either one would work! I just love ToG more, but I’m biased. I was reading them as the came out. That series is to me what Harry Potter or Percy Jackson is to other people.

@emiri_g is it something similar to acotar or does it follow a different sort of plot?

@takachyna here’s how I classify the different Maas series. ToG is plot and character driven, while Acotar is purely character driven. CC is driven by its world building. ToG is similar in that some of its characters reflect Acotar (for example, Manon and Amren are strikingly similar in personality, but Manon gets a bigger character arc). It also follows more characters than just one, since it’s written in 3rd pov. But it still has wars and kick butt female characters, and SO MUCH romance. So it should feel familiar.

@emiri_g ok thank you for explaining! I dnfed it because I was kind of hesitant since it was her first series and I wasn’t getting into it how I wanted, but I will definitely give it another chance!

@emiri_g do you think I could read acotar first then tog and it would still make sense?

@takachyna I have heard so many people say this you have no idea haha 😂 I will say this. Treat the first 2 books more like a prologue. They read really fast but they are meant to set up the series. It’s by the 3rd book that Maas got her writing down and it reads a lot like Acomaf in how it tackles Mental Health. Hope you like it!

@emiri_g Thanks!

@keeley_loves_reading oh absolutely! I just recommended ToG because it delves into how the worlds are connected. But you should be able to read ToG after Acotar no problem!

Read acotar first, tog second and crescent city last, all the series are in there own worlds with their own characters but set in the same multiverse.

I would say if you do read anything Maas, read TOG or ACOTAR first and CC last (no matter what) just for content and world building ❤️

@cinnamonsunshine914 thanks! So it doesn’t matter whether I read TOG or ACOTAR first???

IMO, no. I read TOG first only because I found it the year it was published! Although I find the TOG world building and storyline to be wayyy more rewarding @keeley_loves_reading

@keeley_loves_reading it doesn’t matter which one you read first out of acotar and tog but I would still recommend reading acotar first

Read in release date order like the rest of us OG’s and you’ll be solid. They came out that way for a reason, and even having the ability to re-read them differently, I’ll always go in order!

@phiabia I might try this thank you!
