Hi everyone,

For April 2023, we are reading:

52 Ways to Walk by Annabel Streets

Amazon link here: https://amzn.to/3LzR9U5

Take the month to read it, and we will reconvene at the end to discuss 😀 I'll also post a few questions throughout the month to keep us motivated and focused.

Who's going to read along with me? (Comment below).

Hi @britt_joiner - it might just be me and you for this one, but I am fine with that 😊 As we are part way through the month, here are a bunch of questions to think about... feel free to pick one or two to answer:

  1. Which walking challenge have you found most interesting so far, and why?

  2. Has reading the book encouraged you to walk more than you usually would? If so, how?

  3. How have you found the author's writing style and tone? Do you feel that it is engaging and easy to read?

  4. Have you discovered any new places or walking routes from reading the book? Where have you been, and what have you enjoyed about these walks?

  5. Which walking challenges are you most looking forward to trying in the future, and why?

  6. The book includes a variety of different types of walks, such as mindfulness walks and historical walks. Have you tried any new types of walks as a result of reading the book, and if so, how did you find the experience?

  7. In what ways has reading "52 Ways to Walk" made you more aware of your surroundings and the environment in which you live?

  8. What benefits have you personally experienced from incorporating more walking into your daily routine?

2 - Reading the book has 💯 for sure encouraged me to walk more. I'm finding all sorts of ways to incorporate it, and learning to appreciate different aspects of it too. And for the longest time, i thought walking didnt count as a workout, but im now understanding the difference it really makes and how it's really good for my body!

6 - to be honest, i am struggling to incorporate the types of walks. most of my walks include my dog because it feels cruel to leave him behind 😂 its not cold here so i can't do the cold ones. i'm a bit limited in the places i can walk, so i cant incorporate some of them. i'm intrigued to try the rain one. and also walking around the water one - i have always loved that and i feel like i will appreciate it more.

Hi Brittany - absolutely the same about classing walking as a workout! I also really notice how much better I feel after one. I am the same in terms of always having the dog with me 😊 I do plan to try the nose breathing walk - I am curious about it as I just started using a breathwork app. I love how the book feels well-researched. I am listening to the audiobook, and there's something rather nice about listening and learning about walking while walking! Let's check in again soon.

@britt_joiner Hi Brittany - just checking in - did you finish the book? Any closing thoughts?

I tried out some of the breathing walks while i was on vacation this past week, it was actually quite nice! I found the 2:1, 2:1 pace felt a little too rushed and short so i adjusted to like 3:1, 3:1 and really liked that.

And yeah i did finish the book! No other closing thoughts really, just been thinking about all the benefits of walking now and trying to incorporate more of it!

@britt_joiner Oh amazing - I am going to keep experimenting with the breathing cadence too! Glad you enjoyed the book 😀 Thanks for reading along!
