I love this book. I love how it tells the story through interviews, articles, different characters' POVs, legal journals, and more. It's incredible.

I hate giving negative book reviews but here I go. This book is one I really didn’t enjoy but I had to finish. I could see where this book wanted to go but it really didn’t make it there. There was too much information at one time and I couldn’t really keep up. It also reminded me of The Strain by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan and I don’t know how I feel about that. I almost DNFed it a couple of times but I had to see if it got better but it didn't. Plus it could have been a little shorter.

It took me quite a while to read this one. I hadn't expected this book to be a true recounting of events, and a compilation of interviews and reports concerning the vampire uprising (which.. wasn't really an uprising.) I think this would make a great audiobook, if there are different narrators for all the various POVs (about those POVs : they were very hard to tell apart, it's like the characters didn't have enough defining characteristics.) 

I eventually started skimming some parts, just so as to get the big picture.. otherwise I never would've finished this book. & then at one point, the political talk kicked in. That nearly killed me. I hate politics, with a passion 😂 

I did appreciate Lauren's POV very much, especially since she explored vampires on a molecular level. In all the vampire stories, we know that vampires suffer from infertility. But in this book, they actually establish an hypothesis as to WHY. That was fascinating, and being a RN of course I really appreciated that part ahah! 

Anyways, I was just expecting so much more, and the ending was just... inconclusive? 😅 I wish the book was as intense and captivating as its synopsis. 2⭐
