This book was definitely a very interesting read. First of all, I really enjoyed the main character and I really feel in love with the personality and auror she gave off in this book. I absolutely loved the overall concept of this book and the family dynamics were so beautiful to see throughout my read. I also did really enjoy the topics that were discussed, however I did feel as though the writing style was very simple and almost juvenile, and I found the plot as well as many of the characters to be very underdeveloped, leaving me to feel no connection to many of the characters and relationships. I would definitely say that I’m glad I read this book and loved the diversity, however this definitely isn’t a book I see myself reaching for again.

This book has content warnings for depression, anxiety, deportation, racism and mention of miscarriages.

This book was alright, I guess. I mean there's nothing really special to this, but also nothing bad. It's your typical 3 star, average book. I kind of feel "meh" about the entire thing. I feel like this could have been great if some scenes were a bit tighter, they just dragged out a bit too long. I also feel like the author tried to put in a lot of social commentary in here and it felt a bit jarring from the rest of the story as it wasn't worked in well enough, in my opinion. The romance felt like the main focus of this book and I just didn't really feel the chemistry between the two characters that well. There were some scenes that had definete potential, but overall they kind of felt flat. The ending also seemed a bit conveluded, which was made prevelant by the fact that it was wrapped up so quickly and unsatisfyingly in the end. It kind of felt like the author needed something special but didn't know how to excecute it. But yeah, it's a fine book and honestly the problems I mentioned were minor anoyances. The book is fine, that's it.
