i went through an emotional rollercoaster while reading this last book 😭😭. I was so tensed, but i’m happy now. it ended well 🥺. I love Noah Shaw so much 🥺.

3.5 for this last book of the trilogy! This last one seemed to drag on a little too much till the last 100 pages

This series was insane in the best way. There is a very dark, mysterious aura right in the first books chapter and I feel like trying to write about the series plot would destroy that. It’s better to enter this series knowing almost nothing, except for the fact that it’s good (extremely good). Creepy vibes and borderlining horror. Theres also Noah Shaw. That’s enough.

This book was hard to get through for me. I struggled through the middle section of the book until the story really took off! After that I couldn't put it down. Very well written, very good story. 
I do find myself a little lost sometimes when things happen too fast I find myself having to re-read to understand and even then the wording doesn't get to me either. I find it hard to imagine. Maybe it's cause I'm reading late at night half asleep.

All in all a very good book, recommend.
Looking forward to reading the next instalment.

the retribution of mara is the third and final book of the mara dyer trilogy. i feel a bit uncomfortable summarizing these books because everything – the actual summary, the descriptions, the beginning – is very vague. there’s a dark, mysterious aura to the whole thing and i feel like summarizing it would destroy that. it’s better to enter this series knowing (nearly) nothing, except for the fact that it’s good (so good). all i can say is, it’s fairly creepy and borderlining horror. oh, and there’s a really attractive male character here. definitely fangirl worthy.

michelle hodkin is the queen of dialogue. the banter between the characters is the best. i look forward to pages that have nothing but dialogue; and luckily for me, there are tons. there’s no lighter way of saying this: her writing style is spot-on. i just *heart eye emoji*. one moment i’m laughing my head off, next i’m shivering from the creeps. there are so many contrasting elements – murder, love, supernatural powers, and science – that blend together perfectly, and it kinda blows my mind. reading the final book of the series, i fell in love with her sassy, and sometimes poetic, sentences all over again.

if you read unbecoming and evolution, but haven’t started this.. i suggest re-reading the first two before you start. i waited a year for the release of this book and forgot a lot. it’s not that i was lost, but there are a lot of references to both books. i missed all of them, obviously, but i re-read parts of unbecoming and evolution (after i finished retribution) and ohmygoODNESS there were so many references. so please, begin this book with a fresh memory of the past two.

I suppose this one is better than the second one. She made us wait wayy too long for those answers tho. Also Noah? yes Noah. but Daniel??? damn. I hope that makes enough sense😭 aside from that, I still think there were many irrelevant details which did not need elaboration on, like why did I sit and read her adventures in the outpatient therapy sessions? had a whole push and pull thing with this series. plot was good but could've been executed better also the similarities to shatter me?? felt as if the author was tryna make her version of it. besides I was hoping for more character development from Mara cuz I need to connect w main characters of series if im gonna read them, but she didn't really have that, maybe this much🤏 (but not too much)

WTF JUST HAPPENED HUH? Secret genes, mutants that are morally gray? Like what the actual f*ck me is not on this planet anymore. I’m gonna say I love Marashaw! Noah and Mara are just (chefs kiss) 

AND THE FFING PLOT! EXCUSE ME?! SHUT THE FRONY DOOR MICHELLE!! 

I cannot possibly comprehend what I just read it’s genuinely genius. I loved this series like omg the romance the plot the suspense. Ugh why isn’t this series like skyrocketing huh? I’m obsessed the last book cause me pain and happiness and so many other emotions I cannot quite comprehend. I loved Mara she is like one of my favorite female main characters like wow bad bitch be slaying! DID ANYONE SEE THE PLOT-TWIST WITH NOAHS DAD COMING? CAUSE I CERTAINLY DID NOT.

This series started off really confusing and I was like huh? what? wait what? Wtf? Omfg? That’s me reading this series lol. Like what the hell is the gene mutation thingy I’m like huh? G1821 what? Huh? This was truly a masterpiece.

oh no no no. i did not want this to be over… i knew this book was going to be wild but it like gave me whiplash hahah. but the love i have for this series is crazy. it’s so good. however, i don’t think i will read the shaw confessions though because i haven’t heard the best things about those books but we will see maybe i will. anyway love you noah <3

the whole world was so cruel to her, my poor girl. no highschooler should ever feel like their own family doesn’t believe them , as thought they were insane and wrong for surviving and experiencing different things.

the whole crumbling asylum storyline was horrifying, to think that everything was planned since the beginning and that some innocent children were caught in the cross fire (rachel for example) is just sick.

doctor kells truly reminds me of the doctor from the maze runner (good motives from her pov but absolutely horrid execution with experimenting on children and murders)

knew since book 1 that noah’s father was somehow involved or something.

did i pity him a little bit and empathize with some of his choices ??? a tiny bit !!

DID HE DESERVE WHAT CAME FOR HIM?? YES YES YES
