barely crossing the three star bar to be completely honest; I loved Sadja, but the whole book was so slow, especially compared to the previous two, I must have skimmed like 150 pages in total because of the pace and repetitive details.

I’ve read the others and this one is my favorite. I love the character, Javan, who holds onto his faith and finds a way to make the best out of a terrible reality. Sadja is an interesting character that adds a richness to the narrative. I recommend this book for fans of the author and fans of fairytales.

More like 3.5 stars, as always I heartily recommend this series to anyone who likes fairytale retellings, and I have to really admire Redwine using a lesser known fairytale as her inspiration.
