While I am not new to feminism, it is true that no 2 people experience feminism in the same way, so regardless of how many (and varied) experiences I have seen around me and read about, there is always more to learn. 

This collection of essays is divided into five stages (Epiphany, Anger, Joy, Poetry Break, Action) and a section titled Education. Almost every essay contributes something unique to this collection and I loved almost all of them. Some very short essays in between felt like they were written hastily but these are very few. The essays covered a wide range of topics - sexism, FGM, motherhood, body positivity, body autonomy and reproductive rights, period poverty, the stigma around menstruation, female friendships and sisterhood, female desire, ambition, and more. I was impressed with the intersectionality and diversity but it could have been more diverse and inclusive. I've marked the ones I found especially powerful and inspiring so I can go back and read them on particularly draining days. 

I found the Education section to be so enlightening - the history of the color pink (Baker-Miller pink), groups of women who have stood in sisterly solidarity and created change, and the waves of feminism. 

This was a powerful and inspiring read. I suppose those who have studied feminist texts might find it underwhelming but I would highly recommend it to everyone else. There are always stories you've never heard of and women who've never made the headlines but should've. Feminism is for everyone.

amazing book about feminism and why we still need it. i loved the different views and takes on feminism which reminded me that even tho women are treated so much better than they used to be, there’s still a long way to go to be fully equal with men and not every part of the world treats women the way we are in the developed countries. 

some of these essays made me angry, some made me incredibly happy, some made me cry and all of them reminded me why feminism is so important. not just for women but for everyone.

I wasn’t planning on reading this so quickly but I just got sucked into the essays and I wanted to know what all these women had experienced and what feminism meant to them so I could better myself. Overall I really did enjoy this but I also found it educational in a way

This book is really insightful. All of the essays are incredibly unique and share a range of individual experiences. Almost all of the essays are intersectional! 

Some of my favourite essays were: "The Power of Period", "If You Can't See It, How Can You Be It?", "Be a Fun Feminist", "An Ode to Improv", "Cat Women" and "A Short History of Feminist Theory". Though all of them were amazing and really well written.

I would recommend this book to everyone!

I’ve never really had an interest in being labelled a feminist and when I was younger actively denied it and said I wanted to be an equelist instead. So I picked this book up hoping to get more of an understanding about why people would be okay with calling themselves a feminist in front of people without getting laughed out the room. I loved this book because these aren’t people who are experts on feminism but instead know why its important to them and why it should be important for everyone. Deffo read if your unsure about the word feminist and the associations that come with it both in your own mind and the perception of others.

Way too basic for me in terms of feminism - needs a disclaimer that it's for newbies. Too choppy, no solid theme and very boring. DNF about 25% in.

This is getting 3 stars purely because I think some contributions would have benefited from being longer and more developed. None of the contributions were bad per se, I just felt that a page or two on a topic sometimes felt a little rushed and/or a little pointless?
I commend the diversity of the collection though, you have women from all walks of life in here and that is such a pleasure. Intersectional feminism at its best.

Insightful collection of women's voices and stories that are worth reading. I also appreciate the little tips to broaden your reasearch on feminism theory and its application into real life situations and stories of people that felt treated as if they were less.
