One of the few steampunk books to catch my attention and make me actually want to read it. Definitely enjoyable and held my attention the entire time. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

Sort of a what if the American Revolution never happened or if America had lost the war and was still under British rule. Add in magic, rebellion, and secret societies and you have an interesting story.

Verity was a realistic character who kept you interested in her story. The minor characters added to the story without being annoying.
