I don't know if VC Andrews books just hold some mystique from first reading them when I was in middle school, but I've tried to get through a few Andrews books as an adult and just cannot do it. I can't bring myself to care about any of the non-sensical characters. If you're reading for family drama and soap opera-like plots, there are much better books.
