Interesting thesis. Its most immediate practical effect might be to put up with the dryness or slowness of Ozu and Bresson for the sake of the transcendent. But it has more value and insight than that. I’m in the midst of reading theology and it’s sometimes hard to juggle the different meanings of the same words, such as “transcendent”.
