I could not put this down. After reading only a few chapters, I immediately ordered the second book from Amazon. Cato and Macro are two well written and likeable characters and the plot moves along quite well. I can’t wait to get stuck into the rest of this series.

A Tale of Military Adventure and Reckless Heroism with the Roman Legions

Eagle of the Empire series has been on my want to read list for quite some time. But, a book series which is soon to be 20 books long, and counting is a daunting prospect. I'm glad I eventual defeated the daunt.

I have read some reviews that says they had given up after about 150 pages, I'm here to say DON'T DO THAT! Yes, this book does drag a little up to this point, but sadly that reviewer have up pretty much at exactly the point the story picks up. Understandably Scarrow has a lot of foundations to lay, and this is what he is doing in the first 150 pages. I can n promise you that this book doesn't lack in plot, even if that plot takes a while to get going. You won't be disappointed once you finish the book. I know I wasn't!
