But one date with Jackson Wilder, a viral video, and a "I didn't know she was your mom" incident, and I'm suddenly questioning everything I thought I knew.But he's fun. And great. And I think I might be falling for him. But I don't know if he's falling for me too, or if he's as much of a player off the ice as on.

I’m not sure what’s worse, fighting an erection on a date, or fighting an erection from listening to an old lady read from a book.

This was what convinced me to read it haha

A mix of embarrassment and anger fills me while I look up at the screen, seeing Frat Boy aiming his puckered lips at me. Before I can think of how to get out of this situation, a loud crash startles everyone in our section.

Jackson is right in front of us , at the back wall behind the bench, helmet in hand, still where he slammed against the glass, giving Frat Boy a death stare.

I can almost hear the words as I read them off his lips: “Back. The. Fuck. Off!”

The first time I read that someone adresses the random inner monologues in the middle of a conversation haha

Handing Meghan her mug, I look up and see she is staring at me like I stripped naked inside a grocery store.

Her eyes go even wider. “What the hell did I just witness?”

“You stopped mid-freaking-sentence, and just stood there. And now you calmly hand me coffee as if you didn’t just slip into the twilight zone. Are you okay?”

Painful to listen to as an audiobook. “Kitten” being used unironically and outside the bedroom was horrifying, but I mustered on because I hate to DNF a book. 8 hours of an audiobook only for 3 s*x scenes was a real letdown. I love a sports romance but this one was pretty slow and boring. Even still, I have read worse, so 3 stars overall.

Its’s nice if you want to turn off your brain for the night and squeal about a 6 foot hockey man who obsesses over a girl he has met hardly 2 days ago, it’s cute, but come on that’ has to be tagged as a fantasy. 

The kitten thing, although in the title is a little difficult to get past because what do you mean someone in this day and age unironically calls their significant other kitten? 

Every romance story has become formulaic these days and this one wasn’t too different, there was a contrived obstacle in act III, that the main characters oh so graciously overcame with the power of their love. Of course the obstacle wasn’t even anything too deep so I suppose it wasn’t that hard with a little bit of proper communication.

If you consider this as if you were reading wattpad and don’t take it too seriously, it ‘s a cute to read after a heavy fantasy or murder mystery novel done well.

There is heart but this book needs an editor. 

This was like a 35 part TikTok that had to describe any and everything. The “drama” was contrived and predictable. 

I just … can’t believe I finished it. The “funny” is not funny, it was trying too hard.

Seriously so good loved this book! Was definitely giving Wattpad vibes though.

Never reading a booktok recommendation again

I read this book in less than a day. The only really negative things I have to say is that the characters don’t act their age, and sometimes it felt the relationship moved too quickly in an unrealistic way. Apart from that, it was written really well and I found it hard to put down. Onto book 2!

As someone who frequently watched the NHL during my childhood, teens and even into adulthood, this was the adorable mix I think every hockey fan who had a crush on a player would love. I wish the book was longer, as some parts felt a little rushed, however it was a nice weekend read that I enjoyed. 2.5 🌶’s for me I’d say.

Oh.My.GOD. I am fully and completely, head-over-heels in love with this author and the Sleet series!! Once I started, I COULD NOT STOP, Y'ALL. Like, reading under the covers on school nights obsessed!!

What's the farthest thing from a hockey fan? It's me, I am. But it literally does not matter because this book is EVERYTHING. I think I'm on my way to becoming a certified hockey fan now, it's cool. Katelyn and Jackson's love story presented a beautiful connection devoid of any toxicity, but still somehow included the hardcore alpha male love interest as a central trope and it was absolutely perfect.

I think what I appreciated most about this installment was the flawless pacing of this slowburn romance. This is what kept me burning page after page with reckless abandon. There's tons of buildup to the smut, which I sincerely loved, and ultimately adored the picture perfect happily ever after for these two that left my heart totally soaked in bliss.

The side characters Izzy, Meghan, and Steph made me SO damn happy and left me pumped to read the sequels! Romance fans, TRUST ME--this is the best possible series for you to dive into this Valentine's season, or literally ANY time of year--you need these characters in your life ASAP!

I think I lost my heart in an ocean of sugar. If found, please return it to the rightful place inside my chest.

S.J. Tilly has quickly become one of my favorite romance authors with the first installment in her Sleet series. It was my first experience with a sport romance, but it certainly won’t be my last because I’ve grown an odd appreciation for athletes thanks to this book! SLEET KITTEN follows Katelyn, a young copy-editor, and Jackson, a famous hockey player. Their meet-cute happens during a party organized by Katelyn’s cousin in Jackson’s fancy penthouse. During this dinner, Katelyn sees her horrible ex boyfriend with his new flame, and instead of risking confrontation, she seeks refuge in the basement…where she finds Jackson, even though she has no idea that he’s a famous athlete. The two are starstruck by this encounter, and they immediately fall into a comfortable banter that would have Taylor Swift writing a ballad in her bedroom. Jackson is able to get Katelyn’s contact info from her cousin, and the next day he has a package delivered to her with tickets to his next game and a jersey with his name on it. To find out what comes next, you’ll have to read the book!

Sleet Kitten has everything I look for in a rom-com: the hilarity that makes you cry while you read, the banter that keeps you flipping through the pages without end, and a romance that made me swoon at every turn. I absolutely adored Jackson and Katelyn—both as individuals and as a couple. Jackson was the perfect balance between sweet romantic and hot alpha personality. Katelyn, on the other hand, was super relatable: sweet, but sassy, with a love of books and a heart of gold. Their romance is a bit of a fast-burn, but I didn’t mind at all! It made sense, their chemistry was fire, the build-up to sexy times was a slow torture, and I was giving my soul to the Book Gods to have them be together. Special appreciation also goes to the secondary characters! I loved Jackson’s mom with all my heart, but I especially adored Katelyn’s girl squad, which is composed of Katelyn’s best friend, Meghan, Jackson’s sister, Steph, and the Coach’s daughter, Izzy. There’s nothing I love more than a group of women who support other women, and this group was simply fantastic. Book 2 will be Izzy’s story, and I can’t wait to dive right into it!

Super recommended to lovers of rom-coms and sports romances!

Man. Easily one of my new fav rom com authors ever. I could not put this book down. The swoon is so intense. The spice is so amazing. The laughing is off the charts. I couldn’t stop smiling the entire time. And then noticing it was 3 am forced myself to sleep just to do it again the next night with book two.

I binged this book so fast! Gahhh I love this couple and they’re adorable story. Gotta admit that cutesy pet names couples use for each other usually aren’t my thing, but I loooved it in this book.

I know nothing about hockey, but you know what? It became my favorite sport. In the world. I say this as someone who was born and lives in Italy—the land that thrives on good food, art and soccer/football—and it’s all because of this book. Well, actually this entire series. By the time I’m writing this, I already finished the second book so…

This was the perfect Meet Cute romance. Katelyn attends an important party for her cousin’s political career at a private home, where she spots her horrible ex. She finds somewhere to hide, and runs into the very handsome owner of the house, who’s also been hiding from the very important people upstairs. A boring night turns into the best as they make conversation. The next day Jackson sends her tickets to a game and a jersey with his name on it, and Katelyn realizes he’s the captain of the local hockey team. And the fun begins.

Despite he’s a celebrity to all hockey fans, Jackson is a down-to-earth guy with a heart of gold. Add that to the fact he’s insanely hot, it makes him irresistible. And he’s the perfect match for Katelyn, who is sweet and smart. Their banter and chemistry was perfect from their first interaction, and every interaction since were fun, sweet, sexy, or emotional. It’s impossible not to root for them to be together.

I also loved the girl squad in this group. Katelyn has an amazing longtime best friend, Meghan, but they grow close to two other awesome ladies: Steph, Jackson’s sister, and Izzy, the Coach’s daughter. They were friendship goals! And coincidentally, Izzy is the protagonist of the book 2, while Meghan stars in book 3. Here’s me hoping that we also get book 4 with Steph.

I binged this in three days. It would have been two if life hadn’t been its wonderful self. It’s that good. And fun! If you’re looking for a cute romcom to read and take your mind off things, please give this series a try! You won’t regret it.
