One year ago today, Literal went through its first major transformation. In one day we went from being an obscure new app hosting at most 50 users, to being discovered by thousands, all by virtue of having been featured on Product Hunt.

After tens of thousands of invites sent and after one year of assiduous work, we are once again inaugurating a new stage in our development.

Literal is no longer invite-only. We are open for everyone to join.

Yes, that’s right. No more invites are needed to join Literal as a new user. Literal has snowballed to the scale of tens of thousands of readers, one invite after another, day after day for the past year, and now it’s the time to open the door and throw the key. We achieved what we wanted to achieve before this public launch, we worked out the kinks, and we’re rolling out the red carpet for everyone to join.

Product Hunt, here we go again

To celebrate the amazing year we’ve had since our last Product Hunt launch, we thought it would be fitting to do it again exactly one year later. To those who don’t know what Product Hunt is, in their own words:

In the last 12 months Literal has improved tenfold and we’ve crossed many milestones along the way. The product team has spent thousands of hours designing, developing and (may I dare say) crafting Literal into what it is today. At its innermost core the mission of Literal is to get people to read more. Our purpose is to improve the reading experience of regular book lovers all around. From discovering a new book, to ruminating over the last paragraph and beyond, we want to help you get the most out of your books.

Literal is at the beginning of a long journey. We’re a small independent team trying to make a difference in a space where we think the world deserves better. Readers, authors, curators, and publishers alike – we all deserve better. The odds are stacked against us but that’s also what fuels our efforts.
