American Queen

Sierra Simone2016
It starts with a stolen kiss under an English sky, and it ends with a walk down the aisle. It starts with the President sending his best friend to woo me on his behalf, and it ends with my heart split in two. It starts with buried secrets and dangerous desires...and ends with the three of us bound together with a hateful love sharper than any barbed wire.My name is Greer Galloway, and I serve at the pleasure of the President of the United States. This is the story of an American Queen.

So I’m behind on writing reviews so I have finished this series so that will be kind of obvious reading this review. So this is the true definition of instalove. And I didn’t love it. There was literally zero build to anything. It was things that happened in the past that happened and while it is told to you in the book it’s after they are technically together already. I also was so unsure on this first book on how I felt about the characters some I was annoyed with than others and just wasn’t sure how to feel about this series after finishing this first one.

Obsessed, I need more romance novels like this. Polyamory feels super underrepresented in the romance genre, and it makes my heart happy to see it.

Omg I wrote a whole review and it got deleted so suffice to say - same Simone writing style we know and love, but a bit too repetitive at times. Spice is great. FMC is SO cringey and naive, innocent, and stupid that it strains incredulity. So frustrating. MMF relationship at the end is intriguing and I’m looking forward to the next book as it’s multi-pov.

I received an eARC in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own. From the very first page, this book easily caught my attention. Am I really surprised though? Seriously, every time I read a book by this author I am always amazed how much I enjoy her writing. At this point, we would think I wouldn’t be surprised, but here we are. This book was intense, seductive, and everything I needed. Greer, Ash and Emery are all interesting in their own right. Greer is so likable and I found her quite easy to identify with. She’s sweet, kind and the apple to her grandfather's eye. I love the close relationship that they have together. Ash, wow. He’s quite a force. Honestly, the way the author writes this character felt like no other character I’ve read before. His intensity and dominant force really swallowed me whole. I hope that we get to see and learn much more about him because I’m highly intrigued. Emery is somewhat of a mystery that we don’t know too much about. But I’m hopeful that the further we get into this series the more we will learn and understand him. I have so many unanswered questions and I’m really excited to see where the rest of the series goes. There are literally endless possibilities. I can’t wait to read book two! Seriously though, that cliffhanger was not totally unexpected, but it definitely shocked me. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

this book got me giggling and shit actually, ash is.. hot, just hot. extremely hot. so authoritative, so controlling, but never in irritating way. he's just.. CHEF'S KISS!!!! greer is soooo innocent but it really does make it hotter, the way she's so submissive yet so greedy. he shaped a bombshell mentality in her.

I’ve been delaying starting this series for so long because I knew I was going love it so much. And I was not wrong. Sierra Simone’s writing continues to suck me in and leaves me thinking about what I read for days. I don’t know how she does it- balancing big questions like love, faith, trust but also with such delicious spice?? I love MFM/MMF and this really tackles that balance with still room to grow as this is a trilogy and does end on a cliffhanger.

Very smutty, another love triangle and a power dynamic. This really did have a plot which was interesting amongst all the steamy scenes

Words that come to my mind: Captivating, addictive, shocking, dark, hot, unpredictable, and twisted as fuck. Yeah, I'm not exactly sure what I was expecting but it wasn't this... what the fuck did I just read? And yet I kinda need book 2 right now because I want to know where this crazy train is going to go!

** spoiler alert ** I haven't read anything quite like this book, it was spicy and whew. I enjoyed this view of the BDSM community and I also really enjoyed the Presidential aspect, it was interesting but not overdone. I can say I'm not a huge fan of Greer, I wish she had some more fight in her. Embry though... I adore him.

This review was originally posted on Addicted To Romance *May Contain Spoilers* So American Queen is the first book in the Camelot Trilogy by Sierra Simone. Now for quite a while, I have seen so many book reviewers and bloggers RAVE about this trilogy and to be honest its the "menage" aspect of the story that kinda put me off. Now that I have a problem with reading menage, but I have only read a couple of good ones out there, and the rest I have tried weren't the greatest. So I was a bit nervous about this trilogy but now after finishing book one, which I couldn't put down, but dang this book was SO good. One of the best books of the year. Now I do want to put out first that there is some kink in this book (mostly though evidence of d/s and some spanking, its not super intense like other BDSM relationships) Those familiar with Sierra Simone's writing style and enjoy it will get a kick out of this. I, personally, am not a full judge of her writing since this is only my second book from her, however, I am in LOVE with her writing style and in my opinion, this is her BEST book she has written. I have never read a menage that had such a well-balanced feel to it and this is only book one (in books two and three we get it from the other two players in the story in their own POV---super stoked for that) Now I do want to mention that this book is HOT....one of the steamiest love stories I have EVER read, so make sure when reading this grab your partner because yeah you will need him or her!! :) American Queen is a 1st POV in our heroine's perspective, Greer Galloway. Greer, ever since she was little growing up with her grandfather who was the Vice President of the United States. She grew up going to all sorts of functions and being surrounded by senators, supreme court judges and some of the most powerful leaders in the world. She was her grandfather's spy, learning the facial expressions and the body movements and the talking that most people did in secret but never paid attention to Greer as she was "too young to understand" but Greer has always learned to be intelligent since she was young. When she was sixteen years old, she meets her "king" a man who gives her, the first kiss and a man she sees inside the depths of him, which sealed her fate. But then her "king" disappeared, fighting in war and becoming a war hero and eventually marrying another woman and becoming President of the United States. But there was another man she gave another first to, Embry, a beautiful sensual night of pain and pleasure and where she gave another aspect of her heart to and one where it became broken when he also disappeared out of her lie until the present. Embry is now the Vice President and best friend to Maxen Ashley Colchester , also known as Ash. "I know you've stayed away from this world for a reason. I know it might be asking a lot of you." He looks up from where he's touching me to meet my eyes. "But I don't just want you at my feet. I want you by my side." He comes to Greer in convincing her to meet with Ash. At first, Greer doesn't seek that. She is content with her life as a teacher and writing her book. But there is a part of her that desires more and so she meets with Ash and before she realizes it she is becoming his wife and loving two men and both of those men loving each other and loving her desperately....but how does this fairy tale find its happily ever after?? We know what happens when two people fall in love. It’s happened between each of us. We have to find out what happens when three people fall in love. All together, all at once. I truly adored everything about this book, and even though I am NOT a fan of flashbacks (anyone who knows my reading tastes will know this about me) but seriously I didn't struggle with them at all. In fact, I grew to crave these flashbacks and seeing the depths of the relationships that come into play into this story, this adored fairy tale that deserves its own happy ending. Most know of the tale surrounding Camelot and the menage love story that didn't get a happy ever after, but in this trilogy we see our triple love story find its way there although it's slow and doesn't happen instantly. The author here wanted to give Camelot's love story their own happy ending and I am so thrilled that Sierra Simone took her creative pen and wrote this epic love tale and one of the best love stories that I have ever read. (which those who follow me know exactly how many books I have read and its a lot) If you can't accept that, then say my name right now and we will step back and renogotiate our relationship. But if you are willing to submit to the fact that I will move fucking heaven and earth to keep you from harm, then say yes Sir This love story between Ash, Greer and Embry is so beautifully penned and I was hooked from the very beginning: from that moment when Greer first meets Merlin, to when she has her moment with the glass with Ash, to the sensual night with Embry to when they are all back together. In this book its not revealed when Ash learns the truth about Embry and Greer being together and loving each other. But we do know that he knows about it by the time that Ash goes back for Greer. And another side note, Ash and Embry have their own love story, but Embry has caused his own hurt and pushed away Ash in his ways and his own pain that I am sure we learn in "American Prince". We see the pain between all three parties here" Ash, Greer, Embry have a painful road ahead of them. Trying to find a way to be together while keeping it a secret from the whole world. I was so involved with their love story, and the EMOTION was so well written and really stuns the reader and I tell you I was expecting a steamy romance but I wasn't expecting all the FEELS that I become addicted to in this story and I can't wait to see what is in store for all three of them and seeing them find their way to their happy ever after!! The one thing I want most in the world—to marry Ash—and the one thing I want least in the world—to be seperated from Embry Overall American Queen is an all consuming majestic love story that transcends time and space, a fairy tale of sacrifice, pain, loss and what is at the heart of them all....A TRUE LOVE MORE PRECIOUS THAN GOLD

Oh boy what a ride. After having the WORST book hangover ever from the Thornchapel series, I absolutely clenched when Ash called Greer “our bride” (those who get it, get it)… its just so perfect 😭 There are a good amount of parallels between the dynamics between the main characters and those of Thornchapel but I am absolutely HERE FOR THAT. I see Auden, Poe and Saint in Ash, Greer and Embry and it absolutely melts my heart (and my chooch) Its like having the luxury of reading a series for the first time again but different. I love it. Thanks for that Sierra. If you like one of the two series you will definitely love the other one. I know New Camelot is more popular by a wide margin but I never got why, because if you loved one, you’ll love the other. So hereby I am asking all who only read one of the two series to now read the other one, you will not be dissatisfied.

Y'know what? I'm good. Can't look past a book where a relationship starts when the girl is 16 and the guy is 25. Let's not do that pls. I've read through other reviews and it looks like things just get worse. In the 30 pgs I managed to read, I found Greer to be insufferable. Pointing out all of her features (blond hair, light eyes, pale skin, beauty mark on her cheek) and still says her face is "marred". If a 25yo man comes up to you, a 16yo, and says your best friend is jealous because you're prettier than her, RUN.

Y'all, I loved this book. It was my first Sierra Simone and it did not disappoint. She is such a great writer and I loved that it was more than just smut. There was political intrigue, thought provoking discourse, and ugh, just so many heart wrenching feeeeeelings. This book also made me realize I would not mind one bit if the president of the United States called me his little princess lmaooooo. By no means can I speak for the BDSM community, but one thing I appreciated about this book is that it probably was a more accurate depiction of how a relationship like this should be. I loved the discussion about limits, both physical and otherwise, and Ash giving Greer time to think about what was going on and decide if she needed to use her safe word. We love a dominating man, but even more so a dominating man that is adamant about consent and boundaries. I don't want to say too much, but I just need to say that I freaking adore Embry and he deserves everything that's good in this world. So excited to read the next one!

Just to weird. this is all i can say. The hate love relationship with a made up president of the united stated made me cringe. i could relate to her best friends in some way but this is it. all throughout the novel i was very confused not fully understanding the logic and train of thought of this book. it is not that it is poorly written it is just the sorry line and behavior of the characters that made me cringe. it reminded me of the Walmart version of 5o shades of gray. sometime i would look up from the book and just ponder on what i just read. the girl was so compliant and devoted to this man that simply hurt her made me sad for her. the best friend of his is the only guy i wanted her to end up with. it was very frustrating seeing the character make bad decision over bad decision. I understand how some people could have liked the compliant and devoted aspect of the character and relate to it but honestly it is not my thing. the only reason i would give it two stars it because it was well written and the spicy scenes did not deceive

If you are looking for spice this is for sure a 5/5 on the spice scale. I wish there was more action and plot. I honestly found Greer pretty unbearable. Ash was tolerable. Embry was a saving grace. It was okay overall. Maybe there is more plot in the second book.

Holy. Wow! This book is Hot! And it has a great storyline. A lot of it was setting it up for what I assume will happen in the following books, but it was interesting and intriguing, but not so heavy you check out. I love Greer and Ash is whoa! Embry is smoking too. Can’t wait to read the following books.

So I am not as enthusiastic about this series as some others but I think that’s mostly on me. Because if sexy, triggering, angsty, threesome is your jam then this is 100% the book for you. It is soooo spicy hot throughout the whole book. Now, if you’re like me and you’re not interested in American politics AT ALL (politicians are actually probably a big turn off for me) or dom-sub relationships or MMF romance you might want to pass. Can I recognize this as a great work for the right audience? Totally! That’s why I gave it 4 stars. But I was too icked out at times to want to continue the series. Pain just ain’t my jam 💁🏻‍♀️

Tbh I don’t even know what to say about this book bedsides I’m enthralled. I am being irrevocably consumed by these three characters. I can’t put Ash, Greer and Embry down. Once I started American Queen I literally did not stop. The way Sierra Simone encapsulates such raw emotion, need and hunger on page while simultaneously wrapping her words in a layer of sensuality… is unrivaled. I know, without a doubt, that I won’t be the same after I finish this series. My heart is clenched in the fist of all three of these characters.

“So many networks of love and heartbreak, so many deep folds and layers to a person’s heart.” #1 American Queen: ★★☆☆☆ I loved the premise for this and I really enjoyed the first half of it, but as the story went on it was clear that it wasn't for me. The writing is still beautiful and amazing, for sure, but I just didn't feel the story.

"I don't want to be miserable tonight," I whispered, and Embry lifted his head, his blue eyes unreadable in the shadows. "I don't want to feel doomed or disgusted. I don't want to think about him." "I can do that for you," he said, his voice low. "If you ask me." Everything smelled like him in that moment. Pepper and lemon and promise.

I asked in an IG stories poll what I should read to fight off my ASITE-induced book slump and it overwhelmingly favored something short and spicy. Welp- idk where all this is going but I can’t put it down so there’s that?
