I have this book for quite a while but I haven't hot a chance to read it. I don't even know when I purchased it in the first place! I loved it. Surprisingly, I really loved this book. The heroine, Amanda (ahem), is a plump and a bit insecure virgin. She even call herself spinster. But when she demand a 'male escort' on her 30th birthday, the one who showed up is not a man in hr imagination. Jack, he's more handsome, rugged and big than she expected from male escort. The sparks are flying and chemistry build real fast, but apparently Jack is not what he told her to be.. I liked Jack because he loves her for her, not her body. He loves her attitude, her brain and how she carries herself. It's very charming. But Amanda's character in the end is a bit annoying to me, to be honest. Understandable, seeing what she's been through, but still, I just wish she could be a bit kinder to Jack. Overall, wonderful, wonderful BBW story.

Its Amanda's thirtieth birthday, and since she doesn't want to spend it alone, she decides to hire someone to get rid of her virginity. Amanda has always craved passion in her life, but being a spinster has taken that away from her, but now she is determined to have it all. When Jack shows up, she is drawn to him in a way that mystifies her, but after he teaches her a thing or two that night, she knows she will never see him again. When she see's him again, and learns who he really is, and his plans for her, she is outraged at first, but when she realizes she has no choice but to work with him, the passion ignites more powerful than before, and Amanda knows that her life will never be the same. Suddenly You is a single title by Lisa Kleypas, and a book of her's that I hadn't read yet....but I am so glad I did. I don't think there is one book yet that I haven't fallen in love with. Every time I read one of her books its like a breath of fresh air. Her writing is pure magic, and I always fall under her spell LOL. Jack is the type of hero that you can't help but love even though he has many strong ALPHA traits, he has a very possessive nature toward Amanda, and you see it throughout the book, but you can't help but love him for it, since he has never known love in his life and it was a journey to see him change a bit because of Amanda's influence. Amanda has a very passionate and strong willed nature, has great talent, but also craves a loving relationship and is willing to take a risk on Jack. I loved many aspects of Suddenly You is an endearing love story where two people who are so different in many ways, have much as well in common, and find what they really need when they fall in love. A beautiful written story by one of the most talented romance authors!!

Lisa Kleypas is always awesome, and this book is probably one of her best. Loved the H/h as well

this was a confusing read. i enjoyed the romance itself, but the pacing was WILD, especially that pretty heavy plot twist toward the end i did NOT expect or like. especially not in a romance novel. the writing itself also got a little too long-winded, rambling on and on with what felt like no real point? took me forever to read bc of this ngl hot sex though!

Just okay.

Fairly famous novelist Amanda decides to treat herself to a night of passion for her thirtieth birthday and finally rid herself of her virginity. The madame has other ideas, and sends a rich publisher instead. When Amanda confuses him for her prostitute, he follows along, and she doesn't figure it out until she encounters Jack at a society event. You can tell this is an older romance novel. I didn't really enjoy the consent issues and trickery, as Jack is constantly making Amanda do and try things she is very verbally saying no to. Premise didn't meet the execution. Also, I was bored. I have enjoyed many of Kleypas's newer titles, but this one wasn't for me.

Find this review and more at kimberlyfaye reads. I absolutely adored this book. The unconventional meet-cute, the older (and curvy!) heroine, the Irish rake... it was perfection. It was also super steamy. (Carriage sex, y'all!) Amanda and Jack were just amazing together. The banter, the chemistry, the passion. I was here for all of it. I do love a good strong and independent heroine, no matter the genre, but there's something even better when she's in a historical romance. And, come on, who isn't going to swoon over a rake with a heart of gold? I loved everything about it. I really need to make time this year to binge ALL of Lisa's backlist. Of course, I say this each time I finish one of her books, but I mean it this time. She's the queen of historical romance for a reason. My LK TBR is absolutely out of control and it's high time I do something about it. Favorite Quotes: “How do I look?" "Like you've been ravished." "Hurry, please. I want to go inside my house and consult a looking glass. I've always wanted to know what a ravished woman looks like.” I received a complimentary copy of this book for review consideration. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

DNF at 90% because I hate Amanda so much. I wanted to stick it out for the happy ending with Jack cuz I liked him but honestly I can’t take another second of this. I would strangle her if given the chance.

Basically my reaction after reading this. It was my first book by Lisa Kleypas. No idea why I avoided her for so long, I loved this book so much more than any of Julia Quin's. In a way, these characters were everything that was missing from those in the Bridgerton. They may be passionate but they understand personal boundaries and aim for respect and decency. They have intense inner lives. They have believable struggles. I loved this. I rooted for this. The amount of sex scenes is quite ridiculous, from a strictly narrative point of view. But then again, somehow within the story, they made sense, in a way. I hate unsavoury sex scenes, but I actually felt fine through all of these. And yes, that includes the last one. I know the infamous "chair scene" was somewhere between a hit or miss, but I didn't cringe in any way while reading it so I can't in good faith lower the rating of this book just because we didn't need yet another sex scene. The characters, I loved them to bits. Really everyone, starting from the dreamy spinster and the successful rake to the faithful servant and the prim older sister, were good characters, well-drawn and easy to like. I hate when authors choose to create them as simply plot tools, so happy this wasn't the case. I loved Amanda. She wanted to be a successful woman and happy of her accomplishment, so kudos for the female empowerment. But I also liked how she didn't shy away from new experiences despite social rules and rigidity, I loved seeing her vulnerable and pensive, contrived and challenging, I never got tired to be in her company. I think Jack lacked such strong characterization mainly because he was quite the classical rake. But I appreciated, I loved how unlike some other scoundrels who have been spurned by their families (and yes, Simon Page, I AM looking at you!), he is not the one to shy away from feelings or responsibilities. I loved their romance, for feeling natural in their development, except from a weird scene in the end. I understand why it was there but I thought it useless, the characters could have sorted out everything without such dramatic intervention. I wasn't sure if this is really a 5 stars read- some things are still missing, I suppose. In the end, I decided to overlook them. Reading this was a sheer pleasure and a delicious treat so I can't but rate it accordingly.

Oh my god, I adored this book! Amanda and Jack were so charming. I couldn't help but fall for this independent heroine who writes and the scoundrel who wants to publish her books.

A must read to spice up your marriage or relationship. This book is made for women as it uses sexual tension to pull you in and keep you hanging, but tastefully leaves the details to your imagination. It's just as good the second time, too!
