The Rebound An absolutely hilarious romantic comedy set in Ireland
Reviews

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for providing me with the E-ARC in exchange for my honest review. "The whole draw of the rest of the world was anonymity. Some people love knowing everyone else, but it's not for me." "Everyone worth anything thinks they're too old or too young or too whatever at some point but they're not." "Look, if you had an epiphany and realized you hated your life and everything in it and decided to move home to renovate a cottage and start an organic-honey business I would support you. You know I would. I would place you on a pedestal and point at you and say that's my friend and this is her choice. But this? As pretty as it all is, it isn't a choice. This was something you were forced to do because of a series of shitty circumstances. And what I don't want to happen is for you to settle and think this is all you are worth and be miserable." OKAY! WOW! This book was so good, I can't even begin to describe it. The pace was perfect and the story was more than what I would have expected. I LOVED all the relationships in the book, yes, including the one with the ex. The conversations were amazing. I loved each and every character. I loved the subtle representations. I loved how this did NOT end with Abby moving back to her home town, just as much as I loved when she fell in love with it. It is so important to tell the world that you can love the small town you come from while still wanting to move away. I loved Abby, I thought she would be this conceited, self-centred person but she is so lovely. Yes, she loves expensive things but that does not make her a bad person! She is kind, she is loyal, she is hard-working, she knows what she wants and she is not afraid to voice it, she's not afraid to work for it. She's opportunistic which is not as bad a thing as people make it out to be. I loved this a bit more than other romance novels because of how less explicit the scenes there were and it was STILL super spicy (for me). The angst almost killed me, every time they *almost* kissed but didn't or *almost* did something more but did not, I screamed so loud I'm SURE the author heard it till their room.

A huge thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for providing me with an arc. Much like One Night Only, I devoured this. It was such a light and cozy book that I simply couldn't put it down once I started reading. This book isn't a hundred percent centered on the romance between Abby and Luke, but more about the growth Abby goes through and how things change once she goes to her hometown. Something I loved was Abby and her sister growing closer through the book and making amends for so much time apart even tho they are so different, it genuinely made me smile and it felt so real. About Abby and Luke, they were adorable together and their banter was amazing and the way their relationship bloomed was awesome. Also, Jess and Beth? loved both characters so much I wish I could read more about them. It was an utterly enjoyable and charming read that makes your heart melt and puts a smile on your face. If you are looking for a cute, fresh, and cozy book that isn't so much about romance but also change and growth, then this is the book for you. 4/5 stars.

OMG I LOVED IT. It's maybe a 4.5 tho. I got the arc for this through Netgalley! Once I started I couldn't put it down. I was expecting some kind of love triangle where the characters suffer a lot haha because well... It is called THE REBOUND, but it was nothing like that and still had the perfect amount of angst. But my favorite part was the sense of humor, I laughed out loud so many times, all the characters where endearing and I felt like I was watching a movie. I really love the trope where the city girl ends up in the middle of nowhere (at least the middle of nowhere in her eyes) and find a new meaning, but I also loved that Abby didn't lose that part of herself, that she grew to find love for her roots but didn't felt like having ambition and wanting more was a bad thing. I loved that she didn't left behind her dreams not even once. I also enjoy small town stories, the way everyone knows everyone, it sounds like hell but it's also perfect to build so many amazing friendships and I was glad that that was part of the story. I loved Rory and her wife Sinead, actually they both made me laugh the most and their relationship was so funny and so cute, I loved Beth, Jess and specially Tomasz and Louise. At first I was hesitant with Louise (even when I'm an older sister and can understand where she was coming from) but the surprise of it all was the development of her relationship with Abby. The way they both were so different and at the same time could find common ground to stood over. And I loved that Abby was Luke's childhood crush, that man was winning at life finally haha. I was grinning like an idiot everytime they flirted. And I loved that their relationship even with the misunderstandings and lack of communication sometimes, was easy. They were perfect for each other. I also was glad to read about the timing of everyone in life and how every person has a different rythm and that doesn't mean you're stuck or losing something, it only means you're at a different pace and that's perfectly fine. I'm serious I didn't expect anything of this when I read the synopsis or the title or even the cute as hell cover, it felt like watching a very warm, very cute, very endearing movie. Loved every second of it.

I very much enjoyed this book but I don't really think it should be advertised as a romcom. It's a bit more women's fiction than rom com. Most of the book is about her journey and what she wants to do next in her career while the romance with Luke is happening. I received an arc through netgalley.

thank you netgalley for the arc This was mediocre at best. It's more Abby's story than a romance and I wasn't Abby's biggest fan. She's back at home in a small town after being laid off from her hot shot job and the story follows the same beats you'd expect it to. The relationship she has with her sister was the most interesting to me but there's not enough of it to be the center of the story. The romance had potential but wasn't developed very well and felt rushed and unnatural. The third act conflict was pretty stupid and I didn't really care about them getting together anyway. Overall, it was a quick read, I might try more from this author because the writing was good but this particular story was not for me.

4.25 stars. "Everyone worth anything thinks they're too old or too young or too whatever at some point, but they're not. You're not. You shouldn't doubt yourself like that." There are some spoilers, watch out! This is my second book by Catherine Walsh (also an ARC) an by now I gotta admit that I'll read anything by Catherine. Her writing style is pretty and her female mc's are hard working women who are funny and have good feelings. Abby is coming out of an engagement and she's returning to her hometown, Clonard, in Ireland. A few weeks ago, she had a fiancé, a job and her agenda full with things to do. Now, she has nothing. No fiancé, no job and her agenda is empty. So, Abby goes back to Ireland trying to scape from everything and everyone, even if Clonard is the place she was scaping of, in first place. I can really relate with Abby about the desire of running away from her hometown and don't look back, to explore the world and have something better. I've been dreaming with the same thing for several years and I hope one fucking day I can leave this shithole for good, lmao. Anyways, moving on. I liked the pacing of this book: I basically devoured it and I really missed this feeling of excitement whenever I finish a book in less than 3 days. And that also happened with One Night Only, so, you can say I really like her books. If there's something I really like of Walsh is the way she describes Ireland and its cozy little towns. Catherine has this way of making you fall in love with the book's places and characters. I really felt like I was in Clonard, which was funny tbh. Also, the "The Gilmore Girls" vibes were strong. Luke reminded me of... well, Luke. The fucking vibes are there. To me, the cherry on top was Louise and Abby's relationship. Yeah, yeah, yeah, the romance between Abby and Luke, okay, bUT THE FUCKING RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SISTERS. Walsh said that in her first draft, she hadn't thought of Louise, but now that she is in the final results, I can say how perfect it is. Their relationship is complicated, funny and a bit emotional, which is cool and adds a lot to the story. Tyler was okay. He was the definition of mansplaining, but at least, he wasn't the resented ex at the end of the book and didn't say anything to Abby like "you'll get back to me" or so. I liked Beth and Jess, they were cool and also funny. TOMASZ WAS THE FUCKING MVP, I LOVE HIM SO BAD. The only thing that didn't make me rate this book with 5 stars was the fact that we had a fade-to-black anD HELL NO, I WANTED MY SMUTTTTT. Overall, this book was good, okay, cozy and warm, once again. I really liked it. previous review: that was cozy and warm. RTC when the book comes out! - thanks to netgalley and the publisher for this arc. since one night only, i liked walsh's writing, pacing, humor and characters. also, i fell for declan, and with no doubt i will fall for luke!! reading it asap

this is a cute and light-hearted read. what i really like is how abby and luke manage to clear all misunderstandings between them. their flirting and bickering are really enjoyable and cute too. also, i'm glad to see abby and her sister, louise reconcile and become closer as the story progresses.

** spoiler alert ** I loved everything about this book! I really enjoyed how the story was not only about romance but also Abby's relationship with her sister and her hometown. I struggled to put this book down honestly. The description does seem quite different from the actual plot to me but I was pleasantly surprised with the storyline. I also loved that it was set in Ireland and the small sideline chemistry between Beth & Jess. Thank you NetGalley & Bookouture for the ARC in exchange for an honest review :)

I'm a sucker for a rom-com set in Ireland, so I had a feeling I was going to enjoy this. I thought Walsh's writing was so easy to fall into, and I basically read this all in one sitting without even realizing it. The setting was my favorite part, and I loved all the depictions of Ireland and the countryside. Aside from that, everything else was pretty much average. I thought the characters were okay. I found Abby a little annoying at times, but she did have quite a lot going on. I liked her relationship with Luke and thought they bounced off one another nicely. They're both trying to find their places in the world, and I thought their journey together was sweet. I also liked watching Abby grow closer with her sister and make new friends. There is a lot of miscommunication in this that lessened my enjoyment, but if you're looking for a charming, quick read, I'd still recommend it.
