Rat Queens remains one of the best female-led comics available today. It's fucking HILARIOUS. Four ladies form a group that batters evil for money. And sometimes beer. They are loud, brash, and delightfully gross! In volume 3, the Queens are off to the Mage University to rescue Hannah's dad. But Hannah's not being very open about why they are there, and her mysterious, violent past comes back to haunt her. This particular book is smaller in scope than volume 2. Nothing is trying to destroy the world at this exact moment, but the characters still have some serious shit to contend with. Readers get a better glimpse into the heads of our leads, as well as their backgrounds, and their intra-group dynamics go through the wringer. It's a solid development volume with a lot of laughs. I should also note that the new artist brings an engaging style to the book. I miss the first two (though I understand why the first was let go after the domestic abuse incident), but am happy to say that I re-fell in love these these characters in this new style. Rat Queens forever!

Mini-review: I sadly didn’t enjoy this volume as much as I did volumes 1 and 2. I still enjoyed the characters and the friendships, but I didn’t like the lack of trust among the friends and what that lack led to. It was still fun and entertaining, but not as funny or engrossing as the preceding volumes. On the bright side, there’s a dragon who is obsessed with candy, which was fun. I’ll still continue with the rest of the series, but I was disappointed at the turn the plot took, as well as the turn some of the characters took. Hopefully things will improve in the next volume.

But I think my heart just shattered.

NONONO. C'MON! First of all. HAIR. Gimme her hair back. I loved her hair. Fuck. Second. Drama. Hope it'll be resolved.

Another series that is losing a bit of steam for me. I probably should have reviewed the previous two trades, as I sort of forgot where the characters left off but even so, I found this arc dragging. Not as fun as the first two.

This comic is beautiful and highly entertaining.

Fuck yes! Hannah rules, and this volume is mostly about her + a sweet look at Braga's past. Enjoyed this quite a bit.
