“…treachery and violence are spears pointed at both ends; they wound those who resort to them worse than their enemies.”

This book is about the long-term effect of abuse and neglect, and is a tragedy and not a romance. It’s full of revenge, obsession, and people becoming the very persons they vow not to become. I don’t love it, but am glad I read it again.
