Parade's End
In this epic tale, spanning over a decade, war turns the world of privileged, English aristocrat Christopher Tietjens upside down. It forces him to question everything he holds dear - soical order, morality, marriage and loyalty. And it rocks the very foundations of English society.

"The strong men when smitten, are smitten in their pride." Thus it can be epitomized according to me, not to confuse it with a stag, but throughout this novel men and women alike, were overwhelmed by the changing reality of their world.
