Rafe A Buff Male Nanny: Loose Ends, #1
Reviews

slowly learning rebekah's smutty books might not be for me :(

this is so freaking good!! one thing that really stood out to me is how open Rafe and Sloan are with each other, they tell each other how they feel right away and they communicate openly with each other. i like slow burn as much as the next person but it was so refreshing to actually read about them knowing what they wanted and going after it without denying how they feel. it was incredibly sweet and cute and i loved it!

Prior to getting this book, i'd heard a lot of positive things about it. The romance, the hot hot hotness of the book. Unfortunately this book did not deliver. The dialogue is stilted and awkward, there were too many scenes and conversations that honestly did nothing for the plot apart from serving as page fillers. For an erotic romance - empasis on romance- of this page count, the author had more than enough time to give us swoon inducing romance and conversations that made sense. This was sadly lacking. Also, while i get that the FL was itching have sex with his royal hotness, i'm not sure how wise it was to just hop into a sexual relationship like IMMEDIATELY with someone that you just employed to look after your children. I guess when you get the sex itch you just have to attend to it. š¤š¤ Either ways this was a miss for me and i returned my copy to the Kindle store for a refund. Never mind that it was 77p. There was no part of this book i wanted to re-read again.

3.5 stars | this was really good. I think I would have enjoyed it more if it hadnāt taken me a month to read it -.- thanks reading slump. also, there was a little too much straight smut š¤·š¼āāļø the sexy parts I didnāt skim were well written so, if thatās your thing...

I definitely get why people like this but despite the aspects of realism that balanced out the insta-love I didnāt like the suddenness of the minor conflict. It was really sweet and light for the most part though.

the emotional intelligence and ability to communicate in this bookā¦ sensational. normalize bad ass career women & men who stay home w the kids.

Gave everything it needed to give Who would have thought Iād love a single parent/ nanny romance? NOT ME BITCH but I ate this shit up and loved it. Honestly I wanna slap myself for taking so long to read this because holy hell this was EVERYTHING. The power dynamic between these two I LOVED. Sloane finds herself in a bind when her most recent nanny up & quits on her without notice. Her friend Xeni who works in the school district recommends a man Rafe whoās had great reviews and recs from other moms at the school and by word of mouth. Rafeās most recent family is moving overseas so he happens to be free to take up this offer. Listen from the very first interaction I knew it was over. Rafe is the entire package okay, heās a gentleman, heās good with kids obvi, he can cook, heās dominant yet sweet and caring, heās selfless, heās funny and heās AVAILABLE. I adored his conversations and openness with Sloane as it was her first time dating since her divorce. He was so patient and understanding with her it made me swoon so much Omg. Day one my mans was like āIām attracted to you, we can do something about that or not itās up to youā BITCH!!! I love reading romance books about adults who are already in established careers so we can see their day to day lives, Sloane was a BLACK successful heart surgeon and I was living my best Greys Anatomy life at some of the medical terms in here. I want to also point out there was no annoying miscommunication trope in this book. The conflict had nothing to do with them and it was resolved so quickly. It took me a little while to get use to the writing because it was 3rd POV but once I found the rhythm I was HOOKED. There is honestly nothing I would change about this book, I mean did I want more spice? Duh but was the spice we did get fantastic YUP. Let me find out my husband gon be a tatted red headā¦. Iām excited to read Xeni next I loved her as a side character here.

Rafe was straight up DELIGHTFUL. I found myself grinning a lot while reading this, which is pretty much my goal always. I loved that the relationship power dynamic was in Sloan's favor, (she was literally Rafe's boss) and how much of a boss bitch Sloan was overall. When Sloan hires Rafe to be her new live-in nanny after her last one quit without any notice, the two are immediately attracted to each other and have to navigate how to stay professional and keep it in their pants around the kids. Sloan's kids were cute and hilarious, her ex-husband was a dick, and Rafe is a gentle giant sweet sexy angel. Literally defines gentle giant. The spice was great, I do wish there had been just a touch more of it amidst the plot. This is the first book in a character series, and I'm definitely excited to read the next book all about Sloan's friend Xeni. 4.5 stars.

this was good. :)

This was some delightfully satisfying fluff! Iāve read several of Ms. Weatherspoonās books before, and Iām a fan of her voice ā humorous, witty, and usually unapologetically sexy. So while I donāt normally go for āfalling in love with the nannyā books, I took a chance on this gender-swapped version. Iām glad I did! āI justāI like thingsāI just need a little more time. To be ready. Forā¦Iām not sure what.ā āThat makes complete sense.ā āAnd we just met.ā āThatās true.ā āOh my god, this is so backwards. Iām saying I trust you with my kids, but I donāt trust you with me.ā Sloan is a heart surgeon, highly accomplished but rather young due to being a child prodigy. As such, she can be somewhat socially inept, and some of that led to marrying her ex, who only wanted to use her skills for his own doctorās office. Something good did come out of that marriage, however ā her six-year-old twins. When her nanny leaves her in the lurch shortly before the girls start kindergarten, Sloan lucks out with Rafe, who comes recommended from some of her teacher friends and whoās just left his last position since the family was moving out of the country. Rafe is ridiculously sexy and traditionally masculine ā rides a motorcycle, tattooed, muscled bulky dude ā but he also bakes snickerdoodles, makes a damn fine quiche, and remembers to gas up the car. In other words, heās delightful wish fulfillment, and Iām OK with that. They both admit to their attraction to each other fairly quickly, so the main conflicts stem around not letting the kids on to their maybe-relationship, and also Sloanās stereotypically evil ex. Thereās actually quite a bit to like: -The kids werenāt precocious little plot moppets, but rather acted like normal kids, complete with meltdowns over soda and constantly getting out of bed after bedtime. -While Sloan is a young black single mom, her race or marital status doesnāt really come up as a point of contention. I know racism is a a day to day occurrence for black people, especially black women, but it was nice to have a story that didnāt focus on that pain. -No secrets ā if Sloan or Rafe have an issue, they TALK to EACH OTHER! -Both of their families are involved (remotely or local) and clearly both characters are well-loved. As for what I didnāt like, it mainly revolved around the evil ex. Most of the scenes with him felt entirely too over the top. I couldāve done without him entirely, honestly. āThis isnāt a part of your job,ā she said when he joined her back at the island. āItās a part of the other job I might want to interview for.ā āWhat job is that?ā āThe man in your life,ā he said with a little cock of his head. Overall, this was incredibly fun, and exactly what I needed when I read it. Iād highly recommend it to anyone looking for some low angst fluff! I received this book for free from the author in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

*3.5 āļø I was just looking for a quick romance audiobook to lift my mood, and thatās exactly what this was. When Sloanās nanny for her twins unexpectedly quits, sheās left floundering. Enter Rafe, a nanny whoās just what sheās looking for. Heās caring and works well with her kids. Not to mention heās also very attractive. When they both admit to their mutual attraction itās hard to not want to blur the lines between their professional selves and the part of them that wants the other. Rafe is your perfect hero for a romance. Heās a traditionally masculine guy with a heart of pure gold. He does have a somewhat criminal backstory but itās clear to see heās changed his ways for the better. I found him a little too perfect, but as the story is so short I donāt think there was much room for deeply layered characters. Sloan was also wonderful. Iām so glad that sheās her own person and got out of her toxic marriage. While most of the time she knows her worth she has her weak moments and Rafe is great at helping her. The plot setup was one I really enjoy. The nanny trope is one Iāve seen in quite a few romance book descriptions, but itās usually the woman. Itās nice to see a male nanny for a change. All the things that comes along with the trope happen, but not in a way thatās cliche, itās comforting knowing how things will play out. The ending wasnāt the most satisfying to me, but perhaps because itās a short book it wouldnāt have worked with a big ending. The family aspects to this book were my favourite and so heartwarming. Those twins were the sweetest. My biggest qualm is the choice on where to cut off scenes. Many felt very abrupt and pointless. There was never anything to make you expect the scene was going to end that soon. Itās like some scenes were set up for a conversation or something big to happen, and then they just end. Very confusing and pulled me out of the story a lot. This is just my little nitpick but Rafe is a heavily tattooed guy and yet he refers to a tattoo machine as a tattoo gun. It doesnāt shoot ink out of it. Itās details like that that can really hinder a story to me and makes me not believe the characters. I donāt know maybe Iām just being too harsh. Overall, a wholesome and steamy book. Definitely fulfilled my desire for a quick romance.

Can I just say how refreshing it is to read a romance between two adults who actually communicate with each other so well, and so honestly? None of that miscommunication bullshit, just upfront dialogue and two people dealing with their issues head-on. So sexy, so charming, so cute. With excellent humor and of course adorable six-year-old twins too.

3.75 Stars Holy . . . wow. Yeah that was everything everyone has ever told me it was. Somehow it managed to be sweet, swoony, and filthy all at the same time. Rafe and Sloan are the cutest! So witty and fun to read. The twins were adorable. The rest of the characters were pretty one dimensional and kinda non-existent. But y'all know you're just here for the romance, right? =) This was a short/sweet, to the point, very minimal drama, romance with a great HEA and lots of smexy times that worked for me. I will definitely be looking for more of Rebekah's works in the future. *The ebook did have quite a few spelling/typo errors throughout. Cover - 4; Characters - 3; Plot - 3; Pace - 4; Writing - 4; Enjoyment - 5.

Had this down in 11 hours (with breaks). Do with that information what you will<3

I really love Rebekah Weatherspoon and this didn't disappoint. I loved both of them but I do wish there was a bit more banter between the two, I feel it was lighthearted but it was missing some actual laugh out loud moments. However it was *spicy* in the best way and Rafe is my dream man. So direct yet polite and kind, love it. He did feel a little flat in some parts but I think it's due to shortness of the book

Rafe A Buff Male Nanny: ā ā ā ā Xeni: This was so much fun! Iām still new to the romance genre, and previously Iād only read the rom-com type of romance novels. I didnāt really know what to expect going into this but I had a great time reading it. This is pretty much just a wet dream for a lot of (straight) pushing middle aged women, where absolutely everything is happiness and orgasms for the rest of her life, and Iām so here for that lol. Is Rafeās level of perfection unrealistic? Absolutely. But thatās exactly why I loved this so much. It was so ridiculously over the top perfect that it made it really fun to read. I totally get the appeal of these books and canāt wait to dive into more of them!

The cover blurb for Rafe: A Buff Male Nanny by Rebekah Weatherspoon is no lie. Everyone you know are already saying "gimme" because this book is EXACTLY what the doctor ordered. Dr. Sloan Copeland finds herself in dire need of a new live-in nanny after the one she entrusted her six-year-old twins to suddenly quits, with no warning. In a bind, she agrees to hire a male nanny, something she's never considered. He comes highly recommended from people she trusts and immediately clicks with her girls, so even though he's a ginger-bearded, motorcycling-riding, tattooed giant white boy who turns her on just a little bit too much, Sloan says yes. Rafe Whitcomb had finally decided end his career as nanny after deciding not to move overseas with the family he's taken care of for many years, but figures one last gig can't hurt while he figures out what he wants to do. He almost declines the job though because he immediately wants Dr. Copeland, something he's honest with her about right from the get-go. Good thing he's honest, because Sloan is just as interested. What follows is a mature, low-angst, but hot as all get out romance between two grown-ups who are simply perfect for each other. With a few minor hiccups, these two will soon be your favorite couple of all time. This is exactly the book I needed at the right time. The children are not just plot moppets, the slight drama with Sloans asshole ex-husband is perfectly believable and maturely handled, and it was just wonderful to see a romance featuring a black main character who just got to have a HEA. Nanny romances can be problematic for the power imbalance, so I loved reading Weatherspoon's take on the trope. Rafe is not a character who doesn't have choices, as so female nannys in other stories are. He isn't taking the job out of desperation, but because he wants to. He has a local and excellent support system, his family and friends, and is completely honest with Sloan from the start. Bravo! I listened to the audiobook in 2019, and loved it! The narrator was excellent. My only issue was the levels. The difference in volume between her voice for Sloan and her rumbly voice for Rafe made listening in my noisy car a little difficult, as I had to turn it up to hear Rafe. With headphones, no problem. This is a very minor thing for an otherwise spot on audiobook. I love this story so much. I also re-read in prepartion for Xeni, which is almost here! I kind of forgot about that shock ending at the epilogue reference Xeni's (view spoiler)[surprise wedding to a mystery Scot! (hide spoiler)]

4.5 rounding up. Good af my only problem was the end was rushed and I wouldāve gladly just taken another 50 pages to resolve things instead of a sudden ending and quick epilogue

Y'all, it's fluff. Steamy, sexy fluff. Like a good s'more. Rafe is a sweetheart and Sloane deserved a good man in her life. I wanted to beat the brakes off her ex-husband's sociopathic behind but that's just me.

3.5 This was basically pure sweet fluff, with a bit of forbidden romance vibes thrown in. Sloan and Rafe are easy to like and care about and so are her twin girls. Everything was adorable - there was some minor conflicts with Sloan's exes, but nothing that couldn't be solved without too much drama - which I appreciate. I get bored easilly when books like this have too many sex scenes, but for those who like the extra smut, this is a good one.

3.5 stars. This is a sweet and steamy story of uncomplicated relationship building. It's a story of a woman, her (adorably precocious) twin girls and how they come to love the new man(ny) in their lives. It's also the story of family, those that are made naturally and those that are created by choice. And it touches oh-so-gently upon the fact that no matter race or ethnicity, we can live together and love each other (all love not just the romantic kind), without compromising who were are. It dealt with the possible imbalance of power dynamics between employer and employee quite effectively, perhaps too effectively but no matter. It also hinted at some really strong male relationships that weren't based on comparing penis sizes, and that was something I actually would have loved to see more of. I did have to suspend a certain level of belief over Sloan's position in her medical profession, even though there is a slight explanation of this, and I also felt it a tad stereotypical to have her so totally sexually innocent apart from her ex-husband, but these were just minor blips in the narrative to me. Lastly, this book is absolute proof positive that a "real" man doesn't have to be a complete dickhead. He wasn't a total pushover by any means; he had a past and had learned some acceptance and showed us that "real" men are just as capable of "taming" their behaviors and allowing their emotional and loving selves to blossom just as women have been doing for millenniums. TBH, my biggest problem with this book is that there just wasn't enough of it.

Reread with the audio june 2020!
