The Affair

The Affair

Giana Darling2016
Is a week of passion enough to warrant changing their lives forever? Italian born Giselle Moore is reinventing herself for the second time in her short twenty-four years of life, trading in her bohemian artist's life in Paris for the grit and glamour of New York City where the family she hasn't seen in years awaits her. But before beginning her new life, she travels to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico searching for a week of relaxation and reprieve before barreling into her turbulent future. She never expected to meet the handsome and enigmatic Frenchman Sinclair on the plane and she certainly never would have imagined herself accepting his proposal for a weeklong, no-strings-attached affair. Giselle has never experienced anything as heady as Sinclair's controlled seduction and cool yet devastatingly erotic commands and she finds herself powerless to stop the ferocity of their passions, even when she discovers he has a partner back home. The last thing she needs in her life is another complication, yet as the week wears on, she finds it surprisingly easy to relinquish control to Sinclair, a man she knows nearly nothing about. And to her horror, the one thing she promised never to submit, her battered heart, is just as easily captured in the business mogul's unyielding hands.

The second I started reading this book, I knew I was going to be hooked. Sinclair and Giselle had instant chemistry and like them I too fell in love with these two from the beginning. I don't even know how to put my feelings into words. I feel like you have to go in with an open mind with this book. I mean the title tells you all you need to know. The Affair. And for a second, just a little second, I was hesitant about it. But I pushed past it and dove head first and then never came back up for air. This book, in the best way possible, sucked the life out of me and had my emotions all over the place. I’m so ready for book two, so here we go. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I received an eARC of this book in The Evolution of Sin Box Set exchange for an honest review.

I purchased this book a while back on a friend's recommendation. Now I understand what all the fuss is about! This story is sexy, and steamy, but also heartfelt. We just can't help ourselves from falling for the characters that Darling introduces to us in this story. Darling has an ability to create complex characters who are so lively that they jump from the pages. She is able to capture a reader's attention and hold onto it for the entirety of the novel. She makes you, the reader, feel the spectrum of emotion that her characters do. Due to the storyline, we do not learn much about the characters, which adds to the intrigue. We WANT to know more about them. We WANT to know EVERYTHING about them. We know that a darkness surrounds them, but we crave more. This book is not perfect, but it doesn't have to be. Like every work of art, it is never perfect, and truly finished. The creative process is the total opposite of finality. Art is the total opposite of finality. As long as it makes you feel something, the artist has accomplished their mission. Darling has accomplished her mission.
