what a MESS

This book was so dumb. I was so bored. Thrillers are supposed to be page turners but this was just dull. I didn’t care about the characters, didn’t care about the situation and thought the ending was laughable. I’m so disappointed, this is such a good premise but for me nothing about this book worked.

3.5 stars.. So let me just say that this book reminds me of a high tech game of Survivor. You have seven strangers (Amelia, Lucy, Scott, James, Tiggy, Giles, Brenda) stranded on this island and they all have deep dark secrets that they are trying to hide. Each person was chosen/invited to this island by the CEO of the Timeo Tech company and they were told that they are to use their skills to "promote" the island to rich people. Its a game and they are here to beta test it. But then we keep going back to the Summer of 2020 and are two kids named Anne and George and this is their first and last time meeting which resulted in an old man being killed. I will not give any spoilers in this review, just know that you can pretty much guess anything. We have 7 strangers that have to wear these ear devices that have embedded itself into their brains (all but Amelia has one hers is a wrist watch) and it will project the deepest darkest secret that they do not want anyone to know. There are voices whispering into their heads and they get a dose of some relaxation meds if they get too hysterical. I mean there are some dark moments and they are starting to drop off like flies. Oh and did I mention this all happens within a day. They are on this island for a day and they have to meet up at this house and there will be a "party" yet what a party it turned out to be. I cant even tell you about the ending because that will give it away, but there are stalker vibes at the end. There are different POVs in this book and they are all from the women...

This was the perfect futuristic thriller turned crime novel for me. Cutting edge technology and dark psychological trauma combine to make a suspense filled adventure between 7 alledged strangers. Pick up this book if you need a fantastic read you cannot put down.

what a MESS

Almost Agatha for the modern age An island, random invited guests and then it gets strange. A little far fetched (tech wise) but plausible enough and with plenty of turns to keep you interested. Shame the characters weren’t a little richer, the death of a caricature doesn’t quite have the impact this book needs.
