I couldn't have picked a better collection of poems to push me out of a personal slump, a period of adjustment and great grief. I don't think I've ever read an iteration of "Guess I'm depressed/dying." that goes as hard as "The Night is Darkening Around Me".
Bronte's imagery is immaculate and I could only dream of painting difficult emotions into perfectly laid out words with sheer vibrance. They say poets are masochists for letting life treat them harshly for the sake of their art-I think about this a lot when I stumble upon great poetry, and this is no exception.

A true master of poetry, Emily Brontë (though undoubtedly quite dark) never ceases to amaze me with a mind much ahead of her time

Lovely wee book of Emily Bronte's poetry.

4.5 stars I adored this. Such lyrical imagery it made me feel as if I were strolling through a fantastical forest! I must say I'm quite the newcomer to Victorian poetry, so whether this really is as lovely as I think, could be debatable ;) Towards the end some of the poems felt a little repetitive, especially number 22 really didn't get to me.

I loved this poetry collection of Emily Brontë. I found nearly a dozen of beautiful poems which talked about lost love and hope, death, emotional turmoil and the idea of ceaseless pain. Resources say that when Charlotte found out Emily's poems and proposed to publish them, the latter went quite furious at her sister for it. Emily continued to be against publishing her works. Well, I'm sorry Emily but things have changed and I will recommend everyone to read your work now 😌 Even if you did not love Wuthering Heights, then I'm sure you will love the poems this amazingly talented author has written
