The Changing University?
Higher education the world over appears to be going through dramatic change. In the UK the end of the binary line has meant an immediate increase in the number of universities, with added pressures on these institutions resulting in a wide range of competing claims on the energies and skills of university staff. But how far has the system really changed to meet the new challenges - and the old ones? This volume looks at changes in the student population, in teaching and learning processes, in funding, leadership and organizational styles. It places these in a broad international context, with contributions drawing on experience from North America, Australasia, Africa, Europe and the World Bank. It includes a perspective from further education and a look back at the last thirty years in UK higher education.
