This read like a self-insert fanfiction that was poorly edited. I had high hopes for it because I saw that fans of Sawyer Bennett would love Toni Aleo. While I did enjoy the story and the background characters, Shea didn't feel real at all. He was a fantasy of a head over heels man in love. Also, there was one part where a Vancouver Canuck injured Shea. The player's name was Muller, except for one instance where his name was Kesler. Ryan Kesler was a Vancouver Canuck when the book was written. It just added to the feeling of a fanfic that was turned into a novel. It was also a bit too long. Elli's body issues and her family consistently added drama, but it felt a bit redundant. I will still give book 2 a try before giving up on the series.
