Chasing the moon

Chasing the moon

When Diana moves into a great new apartment, it seems like she's finally having some good luck. Until she finds out about Vom the Hungering, the monster in the closet who eats everything and everyone, and her duty to guard him for eternity, and her inability to leave the apartment because the door has suddenly disappeared--then it seems like she's having her same old bad luck.

I really liked it! I really really did! I thought it was a fun read from beginning to end, and although I felt the book jacket did not adequately prepare me for what I was getting into, I think I preferred it that way. Diana is a goddess. I love a main character who, when faced with a primordial monster (or four) with the intention to eat her, decides to hit it with a rolled up magazine. Twice. She's definitely a force to be reckoned with. I love that she initially panics and then gets the hell over it. Especially when she figures out the world doesn't make sense anymore. The dialogue is compelling, the insanity is fun, and the plot is interesting. It does take some time to get to see where the plot is going, but the journey to get there is worth it. I really enjoyed it.
