Arctic Dreams
Reviews

One of the most beautiful books I’ve ever read.

An excellent look into the beauty that is the arctic. I learned so much.

The Arctic has seemed a desolate and inhospitable place for its would be conquerors over the many years since it's "discovery". The Eskimos were simply a stupid nuisance and the animals dangerous and only good for their furs or their blubber or their tusks. Oil! Furs! Gold! That's all its good for. Put golden handcuffs on the workers if you must, in the form of high pay, fitness centers, movie theaters and readily available pornography - but there is money to be made and don't stand in our way. Arctic dreams hopes to plant seeds of understanding about this complicated, cold world and its people and animals. This book is a quick recounting of the history and biology of that land in the far north with the hopes that it's not too late to put breaks on the greed that will surely destroy this pristine landscape and its inhabitants.
