A Brit on the Side

A Brit on the Side Contemporary Romance Series - USA Today Bestselling author

How do you tell your best friend you had the best sex of your life with her brother in short-term parking? Short answer - you don't. I probably should have declined my bestie’s invitation to spend the summer in England working at her family’s castle-turned-hotel. But, dammit, it was either that or teach summer school math. Two doors down from my ex. Obvious choice, right? Except now I’m living within kissing distance of Jasper for the entire summer, and he’s just as sweet and sexy as I remember. Unfortunately, I also remember he gave me the best orgasm of my life in short-term parking. And on the desk chair. Then the kitchen counter. Judging by the way he kisses me, he remembers too. Clearly, the best solution is: a)Avoid him at all costs. b) Sneak into Jasper’s room and bring a little Atlanta heat to the UK. c) Fall for him. Hard. I’m not going to choose C. Almost definitely. Find this review and more kimberlyfaye reads. As much as I enjoyed Brenda St. John Brown's Truth series, I've been waiting for her to write another new adult book because I loved her first one so very much. (That's Swimming to Tokyo, in case you didn't know. You should read it. Really.) And you know what? It was worth waiting on because A Brit on the Side was so flipping good. I've always had a love affair with England and I'm a huge fan of the best friend's brother trope, so this one had my name written all over it from the start. I fell in love with the setting – English castle for the win! – and the characters. Bea was a great heroine. I loved how she was trying to find herself after breaking off her engagement to a guy who really wasn't good for her. Jasper was more than a little prickly in the beginning – and y'all know I'm a sucker for a grumpy guy – but as the story went on, I understood more about him and why he acted the way he did at times. After that? He was totally swoon-worthy. Bea and Jasper together? LOVED. They had so much chemistry and, even they only had a short term thing in the past, it was easy to see how well they fit together. (Even if Jasper's sister would totally disagree... hence making it a secretive and "forbidden" romance – which ticked two more of my favorite trope boxes.) It was so easy to get lost in this book. It was a quick, sexy and swoony escape and I pretty much devoured it. I'm excited that this is the first in a new series because I'll certainly be following along. The secondary characters were intriguing and I can't wait to get more from them as this series continues. I won a copy of this book from the author! This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. FAVORITE QUOTES "Do you know what I remember best about that afternoon?" "What?" "How you kissed me afterwards. Like I was water in a desert and you would never get enough." "How are you going to fuck with me then?" "Fast and hard, soft and slow. However makes you scream."
