Ballad & Dagger Outlaw Saints #1
Reviews

4.25 stars This book started off so strong. Older has such a strong voice that came through immediately and I was taken by the humor and world. I loved Mateo's connection to music and how it was a part of his power. However, around part 4, I felt it begin to drag a little. It came back by the end, but it didn't end at the same level it started at. Still, I can't wait to get back into this world because the history and mythology were well-done and Mateo and Chela are adorable!

Highlights

"Ahoy, shalom, and welcome, mi gente!" Anisette's out over a megaphone, cutting Chela off. "Things got a little out of hand last night, it's true! But it's a new day for Madrigal! For our community, for the island! Soon we will see our homeland rise again!"

Sure, she could defeat Satan with that chancla swipe of hers, but this is a teeming street fight! She's being ridiculous, and somewhere, deep down, she surely knows it.
