Great artwork and the story packs a punch. I'm really intrigued to see where this is going and how the characters will evolve

Dark, gruesome, original and thoroughly entertaining, this comic book is just plain great.

This is definitely not bedtime reading, and, having read it AFTER seeing the Netflix adaptation, it's a little bit more raw and brutal than I expected. That's cool though. I mean, it IS Joe Hill. I'll just read the rest of the series during daylight hours :)

Love! Have to admit, watched the show first, but this was a darker introduction to the story. I loved it!

I heard about this series on a podcast from The Incomparable two years ago. I hadn't read the comic at the time, but it sounded intriguing. I couldn't quite bring myself to buy it, though. Then yesterday Scribd announced that they were adding comics to their subscription service. The first thing I looked for was Locke & Key, and there it was! I read the first volume on the iPad this morning and I've got volume 2 ready to read this afternoon. I'd describe this comic as horror/suspense/supernatural. It's dark and violent, though (so far) not enough to put me off. And I have pretty delicate sensibilities these days. The story involves a mysterious house and mysterious keys that lead to places and things you might not suspect. You see how a couple of the keys work in this volume, one more than the other. The characters are mostly believable. The artwork is quite good. The story jumps back and forth in time, deliberately. That way we see how present events spring directly from past events. Good stuff. I can't wait to see how the story comes out. Reading the comic in the Scribd app on my iPad was a seamless experience. Props to Scribd for that! I came to Scribd for the audiobooks. The comics were a nice surprise!

4.5/5 This was phenomenal!! Locke & Key is the first horror/thriller graphic novel that I have read, and I am totally obsessed!!! Now I absolutely loved this story! It was super interesting and unique and it was definitely a perfect read for the month of October. It was a spooky, dark, horror fantasy, and I was all for it! The art style in this was alot different from the art styles I’ve seen in previous graphic novel reads, but I did actually really enjoyed it. It was beautiful illustrated and well written! Overall, this was definitely a great read! I did find the start a little confusing but all my confusion was quickly cleared up! Definitely excited to continue with this graphic novel!

It was definitely creepy and they punch you in the face with a shit ton of violence and death basically in the first two pages, but I can see how a reader can be sucked into the story.

Finished this and the second volume a week ago but just decided to put it on goodreads. I enjoyed this a lot, but since I read the second one too this one I like more to be honest. The book was so disturbing, I've been looking for a graphic novel that has no boundaries and emits really strong emotions to the reader. The only issue I have is a big one for me personally. The art is really annoying given the subject matter, its the faces I think, I dont know but it just looks silly to me when I am reading. That's my only complaint. Solid start to the series.

I'm finding it jumping around a bit, but I can tell already this series will be good. It's a little unclear about who the antagonist is and where they came from, but I imagine it will clear up.

This was a decent start to this series. It felt a lot more like a supernatural mystery/thriller to me than horror, but I'm thinking future volumes will get scarier. I don't loooooove the art style but I don't hate it either. I have like 6 volumes because I borrowed them from a friend, so I'll definitely continue with the series!

Reread January 24th, 2021 Still amazing and very interesting. I watched the show on Netflix last year and finally bought six volumes of this graphic novel, so I'm rereading it. First read in November, 2015

Super perturbadora, pero intrigante. La verdad no se si voy a seguir la saga, porque creo que no es mi estilo, pero esta muy bien. Si es su tipo de cómic lo recomiendo.

Amazingly well-written, gorgeous art, but too dark for my taste. It makes the first few volumes of Sandman look like My Little Pony.
