All Fall Down

When Isabel Yorkshire's village is devastated by the Black Death, it seems that the world is ending in horror and fear. But for the survivors of the terrible plague, a new and freer society will rise from the destruction of the feudal system that enslaved her family. A powerful historical novel from one of today's most exciting young writers.

I don’t usually write reviews, but there are some things I’d like to say about this.

SPOILER AHEAD

This book is overall great, a thoughtful book. I got a bit bored at a few parts, but I enjoyed it. There was one thing I was really unsure about, and that’s the emotion, it wasn’t written well at all. Example:

Isabelle is really worried Alice and her father are going to die. They do die, but Isabelle seemed to have no emotions about it. This happened with other characters too, for example Robin, her lover dies and it only seems to only say ‘she felt dizzy and her vision swam’. That’s not a quote, but that’s what I remember.

Thanks for taking time to read my review. Jess x

I honestly LOVED this. It got off to a bit of a shaky start with me but after a few chapters it got so much better. When I was reading this book I felt like I was really there in those pages dealing with the protagonists problems. Every time something bad happened in the book I felt my heart hit the pit of my stomach ❤️. I’m going to have a hard time forgetting this book, it’ll be on my mind for ages. Definitely would recommend.

What will the new world be like? Will it be better, with all our squabbling and bickering and wickedness gone?

I wish it was, Isabel.

A new life quote for me :)
