'I make my own rules.' Saving women without hope is part of who Rushe is. At least, that’s what Flick thought. She’s his priority now. All he wants is to keep her safe and in his bed. Domestic bliss is not in the cards for them, danger seeks Rushe out. Her lover knows the rules, but Flick is new to the game. He tries to keep her out of it, tries to keep her safe. But that wasn’t what Flick signed up for. Ready to get her hands dirty, she wades in, ready to prove herself capable. As threats close in on them from all sides, they have to learn to work together before the job drives them apart. Warning: Contains explicit language and imagery. Suitable only for ages 18 and over. Copy received in exchange for an honest review ahhhh.......hello again Rushe! ★Book Basics★ Genre : - Romantic Suspense/Dark Romance Series : - 2nd in the Series - Book 1 must be read first. Love triangle? - (view spoiler)[No (hide spoiler)] Cheating? - (view spoiler)[No (hide spoiler)] HEA? - (view spoiler)[Yes- no cliffhanger for the couple, they are very together, but there is a lead in to what could be book 3 (hide spoiler)] Would I read more by this author? - Yes Rating - 5 ★Review★ I loved loved loved book 1 in this series. When I found out the author was writing a sequel I was so happy to get more of Rushe and Flick. In terms of the romance aspect, this is not as dark as book 1, mainly as Rushe and Flick are together now, and both totally in love. (even if Rushe is still a bit grumpy about that fact) I like how it became clear, because there are two people from 2 different worlds, who met in terrifying circumstances and had to fight for each other, they could not just settle into a normal HEA. There is a struggle to understand each other, trust each other, join their lives together to make it work in a way they can both be happy. Flick really wants to be part of his life, after having to leave hers behind, she wants to help, be useful. All Rushe wants to do is keep her safe. When they get involved in trying to find a girl they think is being kept against her will, all is not what it seems, and in her eagerness to help, Flick makes some dodgy decisions and things get out of hand. I have to say, there were a couple of times I was thinking "what are you doing that for!!!?" and I lost track a touch of what exactly was going on with regards to the suspense part of the plot (although it pulled together in the end), or at times it seems things work for Rushe and Flick through pure luck or coincidence. But you know what? I do not care! If I want realistic, I can watch Eastenders! (although maybe not, they all live and work on the same tiny square and have extremely miserable lives, it is just not normal folks). This is all about Rushe and Flick for me (ok, mainly Rushe). They are unconventional, and Rushe, as I said about the last book, kudos to the author for keeping his character consistent. He has had a lifetime shaping the man he is, and falling in love is not going to change that. Yes, he loves, and cannot let Flick go, but he is not going to change into a 9-5 man and start finding a newly discovered love of DIY. I am super excited to see what will come next for Rushe and Flick and seeing how their relationship develops. My review for Explicit Instruction
