Agatha Christie is redeemed! This is the Miss Marple book just prior to Nemesis, which was such a disappointment. This one is just what I wanted, despite a very long build-up to the most significant crime and minimal involvement from Miss Marple herself. Suspicious characters, uncertain inheritances, train robberies, murder, and an unexpected assailant all combine to create a compelling mystery worthy of the author's name.

Mungkin salah satu less favorite book dari Agatha dan series miss marple. Lumayan cukup bosan 2/3 awal buku nya, misteri nya kurang dan banyak kejadian-kejadian yang kurang greget. Tapi suka setting hotel nya sama deskripsi makanannya. Selama baca jadi kepengen makan muffin dan nyobain jamuan teh ala Inggris.

Great ambiance, very cozy, but kind of a lackluster mystery and not a super satisfying ending. Again, totally fine to read If it's all you have handy, but otherwise I would read other Miss Marples if you have them.

The queen of mystery does it again! What a fun story full of wholesome mystery, intrigue and twist. Great narration for the audible.

The ingenuity of the young female of the species is beyond anything you could conjecture! so true ms. christie. I always enjoy Agatha Christie, and while this certainly was not my favorite I've read of hers, it was still pleasantly entertaining. I didn't think the ending was as satisfying or came as full circle as others, but I enjoyed getting to know Ms. Marple (this is my first Ms. Marple book!), and I also liked the hotel setting. This book is super short so there's really not much to say-- it's a classic Christie but doesn't particularly stand out. If you've read a ton of Christie and you are struggling to find ones you haven't read then I'd say there's no reason not to give this one a try, but if you haven't read Christie before I'd definitely recommend starting with And Then There Were None or Death on the Nile (my personal favorite!) instead. I'm excited to expand my Christie collection (this was one of a few 70s pocket editions I ordered), and eagerly await reading more of her work.

Delightful
