I found it bizarre that Miss Marple appeared in page 225/300 and had a virtually nonexistent role in the plot until the penultimate chapter where she explained the solution to the murder.

Such a lovely book, full of mystery and guessing who's the criminal until the very end. A bit confused about Miss Marple's rare appearances and slightly disappointed by how she layed out her deductions at the end, but a very satisfying and engaging story.

This book was adorable. I didn't expect much going into it (I did take it from that RV park up in San Diego) But it was absolutely lovely and quiet lighthearted even though there was murder. I am actually quite surprised by the ending. It was nice that it wasn't predictable and even better that there was a great little love story throw into the mix. It was quite slow...really the entire book but enjoyable. Chapter seven was by far the best I think and I have never been able to pick out a favorite chapter before so that's new.

Another book I had read ages ago, and I was surprised by how much I could remember. The Italian title mentions the post, so I could clearly remember the letter, and also the (view spoiler)[killed maid and how Miss Marple said that it must have been the husband of the first victim as he was in love with the new babysitter (hide spoiler)]. During my first read, I was disappointed by how little Miss Marple is on the page. I was expecting something more similar to a Poirot's novel, where he is mostly present. This time around, I knew what to expect and I was fine with Jerry being the narrator. But still, Miss Marple is so cool I wish we got to see her much more. The romance was horrible, in true Christie style. She was magic with mysteries but just not good with love stories, as they always feel stilted and fake, but especially rushed and based on nothing, with uncomfortable power imbalances and age differences. But I am now a pro at ignoring them and focusing on the perfectly crafted mystery.

Really enjoyed this one! I loved the Burtons and Megan. However, Miss Marple was barely in the novel. Review to come.

'It is a theory of mine', I said, warming to my theme, 'that we owe most of our great inventions and most of the achievements of genius to idleness – either enforced or voluntary. The human mind prefers to be spoon-fed with the thoughts of others, but deprived of such nourishment it will, reluctantly, begin to think for itself – and such thinking, remember, is iriginal thinking and may have valuable results. Besides' I went in, before Aimèe could get in another sniff, 'there is the artistic side.'
