Right as Raine An Aster Valley Novel

Lucy Lennox2021
Tiller: As the first openly gay professional football player, I can't afford to make any mistakes, on or off the field. And the absolute biggest mistake I could make right now would be to fall for Mikey Vining, my best friend, employee and, more importantly, Coach's baby boy. I might fantasize about Mikey at night--every night-but actually touching him would be a serious personal foul. And falling for him? That's completely out of bounds. Mikey: I've learned my lesson about falling for one of my dad's players. They're a bunch of spoiled jocks with more muscles than brains. I've spent years learning to keep my eyes, and my hands, to myself. But resisting the temptation becomes nearly impossible when Tiller Raine and I end up together in a small cabin in a remote Colorado town. Suddenly, there's not much to do but look at each other. And talk. And hopefully, hopefully touch. But what happens when our stay in Aster Valley is over and it's time to return to the real world? Will Coach blow the whistle on our relationship? Or will Tiller admit there might actually be something he loves more than football after all?

3.75/5 stars I don’t have the mental energy to write a detailed review today 😂 but I will say I was dying to get back to this book today when I had to leave it at home. I really enjoyed the start, Tiller and Mikey were so cute even before they got together. It felt like there was a bit of a lull in the middle, and I feel like we didn’t get a conclusive ending? There was some things that happened but we never knew what the repercussions were. ⚠️Spoiler section⚠️ The one thing that annoyed me in the middle of this book, was the fact that after the author but emphasis on how important penetrative sex would be for this couple since they’d both never done it before, she then cut the scene short? We got the insertion moment and then a fade to black which was so disappointing 😤 I don’t usually get annoying over the quality of sex scenes, but I just can’t understand why the author hyped it up so much only to leave us all hanging 😔 Mikey had mentioned how much he wanted this and how important it was to him to have his first time doing anal with someone important and I really wanted to see the scene from his pov but nope 😫 Anyway it was an easy read which is what I need right now. There was a bit of relationship angst towards the end but nothing too intense. I’ll definitely be continuing this series and I’m looking forward to Sam and Truman’s story.

I have to say I missed a good Lucy Lennox book. After the collaborations with Molly Maddox, which I didn't like at all (too much nonsense, I read the first one with effort and DNF the second one); and May Archer (a little better, but still too "private jokey" for a non-american reader), Lucy finally comes back with a good one. I loved the characters and the plot. Believable characters, good dialogue and a well built plot.

The chemistry between these two characters is just...chef’s kiss. Tiller Raine is in need of a personal chef. He is a rookie in the NFL and is working on his first season in the league. He is showing promise and he is prepared to take the industry by storm as an openly gay football player...if only he can learn to fuel his body properly. Mikey is the coach’s son. He is the only son who does not play a professional sport. But he is a star in the kitchen. He has big dreams to one day open up his own restaurant. Due to financial reasons that plan is on hold and since Tiller Raine needs a chef and Mikey’s dad is his coach, Mikey suddenly finds himself with a job he did not ask for or even want. Fast forward five years later… The sexual tension is well past 400 degrees and is onto broiling at this point. Tiller and Mikey are partners and best friends in everything except the way they want the most. Not only are they still boss and employee, but Mikey’s dad is still Tiller’s coach and is not supportive the way he portrays to the media. Or a better way to put it, Mikey’s dad is an utterly terrible human. Those two big obstacles hang over their heads until Tiller gets hurt. Once Tiller gets hurt, Mikey takes him to Aster Valley to recover. New friends are made. Delicious recipes are consumed. Priorities shift. Truths are spilled. Clothes are lost… The only lingering question is, can these feelings last past their time in Aster Valley or is this just a winter fling that will bring everything crashing down around them? Lucy Lennox slays with another new series. Book one is just the beginning. I cannot wait for more Aster Valley deliciousness!
