Since this is a novella it's hard to review without spoilers so they will be present. Unfortunately this book just acted as further proof that romance novels aren't for me. I really need that emotional connection between characters to enjoy any sort of sexual interaction. This book is very insta-lovey considering it takes place over about 48hr. Our characters really know nothing about each other, since they have really have any sort of conversations. Also (TW), our human MC had been raped in the past and left for dead, yet all of a sudden he's down with pain/blood play and consent/non-consent...that didn't seem very plausible. The plot was that there was a bad vampire who had raped our human in the past...and of course he escapes his prison on the day that our two characters meet. The plot was pretty cheesy and honestly was just there so our monster had someone to rip apart and that our human could be saved. Lastly... pregnancy! I did not see that coming. I feel I could have enjoyed this concept as a full novel, but just didn't work as a novella, especially when we are dealing with someone over coming trauma from sexual assault.
