Descender, Volume 3: Singularities by Jeff Lemire and Dustin Nguyen takes a step back from the current events to look at how all the characters came to be where they are. FFFF66 orphan(s) utopia offroad http://pussreboots.com/blog/2020/comm...

5 issues, each devoted to the backstories of principal characters dating back to ten years up to the present action, to help us better understand what is going on. I found this volume to be highly emotional. This is one of my all-time favorite series. Do yourself a favor and read it.

Much more focused than the 2nd volume. Excited to see what comes next

Wow, lots of great character development.

This volume is mostly telling backstory and developing characters. We get some interesting reveals about them. The backstories are filled with action, so it does not feel slow. The storytelling has always jumped back and forth with flashbacks. The art is as beautiful as ever. Things are not looking good for the characters in the present. But in this series, the stakes are always pretty dire.

My favorite installment of this series thus far. The art is beautiful and now that we have the backstories of more players it adds much needed emotional depth and nuance to the story.
