Midnight Mass

Midnight Mass

Sierra Simone2015
We are told that God will punish the wicked. That sinful men will reap what they sow. We are told to scourge our souls with prayer and pain to become clean once again. Well, here I am. Wicked and sinful. Desperate to become clean…even though it feels so good to be dirty. But even I never expected what came next. Even I never expected my punishment to come so soon. ***Midnight Mass is a novella and a sequel to Priest. It is not necessary to read Midnight Mass to read Sinner.***

My Review:

How on EARTH did this author make me feel this deep? How does she do this to me every single dang time haha I absolutely enjoyed this book so much. Now it wasn't a five star or anything because the DRAMA between this couple was a bit ridiculous at times. I just didn't understand how they just wouldn't communicate their issues when you have been together like they have been and sacrificed what they have for each other. But man when they finally start communicating and being open to each other and that is when things get LIT for them. I actually loved seeing this extended novella for this pair (they are the couple from Priest) and it was interesting to see how they were dealing with life after what happens in Priest. I did appreciate that we still see them believing in their faith and having that still be a big part of their life. It was just a fun novella that I couldn't get enough of and was having a blast with.

Overall I am so glad that I picked this one up and getting caught up on this series

10/10. was not expecting to give it this rating considering it got to a point where i genuinely despised this book in the middle- then it got to a point of hope, excitement and then absolute loss and devastation. then a bittersweet beautiful yet hurtful near ending and then finally, the hopeful, mind wandering and gorgeous ending. reading the authors note made me cry even harder, as sierra wrote that she experienced what happened to one of the protagonists in this book, and then explained why she felt the need to write about it. THAT WAS SO PAINFUL BUT SO BEAUTIFULLY GOOD AND IT MADE ME CRY MUCH HARDER THAN THE FIRST ONE. IM GONNA GO THROW UP NOW.

I'm not crying. You are. Oh, Tyler and Poppy. How I love you. This book really made an imprint on my heart. I seriously love these two characters and admire the deep connection they have with one another. It’s so much more then physical attraction and having sex, thought that is a big plus! If you’ve read Priest, then Midnight Mass is a definite must read! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I will say I am surprised by how much plot was in this book. This was an interesting follow up book that gives a look at a couple that got together and seeing where they are in their life. It’s interesting because there’s always the assumption it’s all good but this showed it isn’t. The miscommunication was real. It was insane how much could have been resolved had they just talked and been honest with one another. It also talked about some real issues but obviously in a religious aspect for this particular couple and how they go about it. It was interesting and a quick read before jumping into the second book.

Moderately okay, lots of groveling. I didn't like the miscommunication trope 👎

I will never get enough of Father Bell! In this holiday novella, we fast forward 3 years into Tyler and Poppy's marriage. Although still very much in love, they are not without their problems. Tyler is finishing school and Poppy is working at the studio which leaves very little time as a couple. One night, everything comes to a head when emotions are running high and Poppy decides she needs some time and space. This is not what Tyler wants, and during this time, he once again battles his guilt and questions all his decisions. But Christmas is a time for hope. And this Christmas will bring them closer than ever. I absolutely loved this follow up to Priest. It felt very real and honest. I especially liked the fact that not everything has a happy ending, but there is always hope......and of course unbelievably hot sex. There is ALWAYS that!!!

Es una tortura leer escenas tristes, pero sé que Sierra nunca decepciona y a pesar de qué sufrí leyendo varias partes, el final me gustó y espero que en Sinner sepamos más de como viven ahora.

Originally posted at Booklovers For Life Holy crap, Midnight Mass is just as dirty – and downright filthy – as Priest was! For a novella, it’s a GREAT follow-up to Tyler and Poppy’s story. Priest was seriously one of the hottest books I’d read all year, and though I didn’t really LOVE it, I was still looking forward to the smutty goodness in Midnight Mass, and Sierra Simone didn’t disappoint. Her writing is absolutely stunning, and it’s one of the reasons why I really enjoyed this novella, right next to the smokin’ hot sex. If you loved Priest, you definitely won’t be disappointed with Midnight Mass! I’d shrugged off my laptop bag and sank onto the bed, not even trying to quash the self-recriminating bitterness that squeezed my heart an repeated all the things I already knew. You don’t deserve her. You’ll never deserve her. And the worst: You failed at being a priest. Now you’ll fail at being a husband. This novella was such a treat for me, because when I finished Priest, I didn’t really feel that satisfied with Tyler and Poppy’s ending. But Midnight Mass has definitely settled some of my concerns about their relationship and we get an in-depth look at how they are now as a settled couple. Three years into their marriage, Tyler and Poppy are still as in love as ever, but they’re both incredibly busy, with Tyler’s dissertation and Poppy’s work. They’re spending less and less time with each other, and add on to Tyler’s guilt over leaving the clergy and jealousy over Poppy’s coworker, they’re going through a rough patch. I really liked the way Sierra Simone handled portraying Tyler’s penchant for guilt and the way he deals with his self-loathing over his supposed failures. It could’ve gotten over-the-top and annoying, but the author writes Tyler in such a way that I could sympathize with him and completely understand what he was going through. Nothing about this novella felt unnecessary – the stress in Tyler and Poppy’s marriage was believable and also dealt with in a believable way. And, of course, there’s plenty of smutty goodness and LOTS of dirty talk from our former priest. Tyler is just… sinful. There’s no better way to describe him. Thank you, I told God as Poppy’s body began trembling over mine. Thank you so much. Is it weird to pray during sex? Maybe it is, but sometimes it happens. I’ve tried to accept that it’s who I am—a man who loves God, and who loves fucking, that I can be dirty and holy all in the same moment. What I really liked about Midnight Mass was how Tyler and Poppy had much more depth in this than I felt like they did in Priest. They just felt more real to me in this novella. If you loved Priest, you’ll definitely want to get your hands on Midnight Mass, and not just for the dirty smut (although I’m sure that’s like 90% why you’ll read it, and I don’t blame you). You’ll get to see how married life is for this couple, witness them through their ups and downs but still coming out on top. And like I said before, Sierra Simone’s writing is gorgeous and unlike anything I’ve ever read. Priest fans won’t want to miss this novella sequel! Father Bell was here instead. And church was in session. Thanks to the author for generously providing me an ARC to review. Quotes are taken from the ARC and are subject to change in the final version.
